Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Hopes for Royal Life
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle once hoped to have a royal arrangement similar to Prince Edward and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh. In the early days of their marriage, Edward and Sophie were allowed to balance personal careers with royal duties, something Harry and Meghan also wanted.
According to cultural critic Kristen Meinzer, Harry never wanted to fully walk away from his royal responsibilities. Instead, he hoped for a part-time role where he and Meghan could continue serving the monarchy while also pursuing their own projects. However, the late Queen Elizabeth rejected this idea, insisting on a full commitment. Full Source
Meinzer suggests that King Charles might be more open to flexibility than his mother was. If Charles could provide both security and a balanced role, Harry and Meghan might reconsider returning in some capacity.
The couple, now living in California with their two children, still feels a connection to the UK. Harry reportedly wants his family to know and love his homeland, but safety remains his biggest concern. Frogmore Cottage, their former UK residence, could play an important role if they ever return, as it was always seen as their true British home.
