Former Butler Disagrees with Prince Harry’s Claims About Camilla
In Prince Harry’s book Spare, he suggested that he and Prince William were not happy with their father’s relationship with Camilla. But now, King Charles’ former butler, Grant Harrold, is sharing a very different story.
Harrold, who worked for King Charles for seven years, says that Charles and Camilla seemed very happy together and that there was no tension in the family at that time. He describes Charles as a gentle man and remembers many warm and casual moments between Charles and Camilla while he worked for them.
He claims that William and Harry actually looked supportive and joyful during their father’s wedding to Camilla in 2005. He even remembers the two brothers decorating their car with a “Just Married” sign and running after it, seeming excited.
This totally clashes with what Harry wrote. In Spare, Harry said that he and William had told their father that they supported him and Camilla being together, but they asked him not to marry her officially. Harry made it sound like they were uncomfortable with the idea of Camilla becoming stepmother.
But Harrold insists that the family members got along well and that he never saw conflict. He says he doesn’t understand why Harry is now portraying the situation so negatively.
His memoir, titled The Royal Butler, will be published next month and may reveal more stories that challenge Harry’s version of events.
