It has been officially confirmed that Prince William and Kate Middleton — the Prince and Princess of Wales — are planning to leave their Windsor home, Adelaide Cottage.
They moved into the cottage in August 2022, hoping for a peaceful family life. But sadly, many difficult things happened during their time there, which now make the house feel emotionally heavy.
Shortly after they moved in, Queen Elizabeth II passed away, which was a huge loss for the family. Later, in 2024, Kate used the home as a place to rest during her cancer treatment. At the same time, King Charles was diagnosed with cancer, adding more stress and sadness to the royal family.
Sources say that all these painful events made the cottage feel full of sad memories. That’s why Prince William and Kate want to start fresh somewhere else.
Their new home will be Forest Lodge, a historic and luxurious eight-bedroom mansion in Windsor Great Park. The house is very old (about 328 years) and is worth around £16 million. It was beautifully renovated in 2001.
Even though it's a large, fancy property, William and Kate don’t want live-in staff. They still want a normal, cozy family atmosphere for their children.
People close to them said this move is meant to be long-term — they want Forest Lodge to be their forever home, a place filled with better and happier memories.
