Harry Away from His Father and Family Again for Christmas (And by His Own Choice): Holidays in Montecito with Meghan and Their Children
Nothing Can Be Done: This year, Harry and Meghan will once again spend Christmas apart, together with their children in California.
This year, Harry and Meghan will once again spend Christmas away from the royal family, in Montecito, California, together with their children. The couple will not be present at Buckingham Palace for the traditional Christmas celebrations. They last celebrated Christmas with the royal family in 2018. Although the meeting between King Charles III and his son Harry, which took place on September 10, 2025, after 19 months of silence, had raised hopes of a possible reconciliation, the couple will remain in their Californian home, a safe distance from the traditional celebration at Sandringham.
Christmas (Not) with the Family
The main reason for the separation appears to be, in addition to family complications, security concerns. The lack of official protection is, in fact, said to be the reason for Harry's reluctance to return to the UK with his children Archie (6) and Lilibet (4). Therefore, after a brief pre-Christmas trip to Aspen, where he replaced a friend at the World Snow Polo Championships, Harry will enjoy the holidays in Montecito.
Meanwhile, the royal family, as per tradition, will spend Christmas at Sandringham, where members of the royal family will unwrap presents and then make their customary public appearance at church on the morning of December 25.
