Meghan Markle Screams ‘I Surrender’ as Prince Harry Ends Legal Battle Against UK Media

As of January 2026, reports claiming Prince Harry has "surrendered" or quit all legal action against UK media are false. Far from quitting, he is currently involved in a major High Court trial in London.

Current status of his legal actions as of January 17, 2026:

Active High Court Trial: Prince Harry is scheduled to appear in person and take the witness stand on Thursday, January 22, 2026, for a nine-week trial against Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL), the publisher of the Daily Mail.

The Allegations: Harry and six other co-claimants, including Elton John and Elizabeth Hurley, are suing ANL over alleged unlawful information gathering, such as phone tapping and placing listening devices in homes and cars.

Ongoing Legal Conflict: Leading up to the trial, ANL's legal team has made "exceptionally serious" allegations of fraud and dishonesty against Harry’s lawyers, further escalating the legal battle rather than ending it.

Recent Wins and Settlements:

In January 2025, Harry settled a claim against News Group Newspapers (publisher of The Sun) for "substantial damages" after they apologized for serious intrusion.

In 2024, he successfully settled a phone-hacking claim against Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN).

Past Withdrawals: Harry did withdraw a specific libel claim against the Mail on Sunday in January 2024, but this was one part of his broader legal strategy and did not end his other significant lawsuits.

While sensationalist headlines may suggest otherwise, the Duke of Sussex remains actively engaged in what has been described as his "mission" to reform the British press through the court system.
