What is the necklace Kate Middleton designed like?

Before marrying Prince William, Kate worked at Junior Jigsaw as an accessories buyer. It was during this time that she connected with Claudia Bradby, a jewelry designer who had recently launched her own brand.

"I had read that she had started working as a buyer for Junior Jigsaw, so I simply wrote her a letter saying that I would be very interested in collaborating with her on a jewelry line."

Kate, who had already begun dating Prince William, accepted Claudia's proposal, and together they started working on a beautiful necklace they called the "Mother and Child Pendant Necklace."

"She came up with the idea, which I think was inspired by a Links of London piece she had seen. She wanted it to have a simple and clean aesthetic," Claudia recalls about Kate's design.

The designer confesses that Kate was very specific with her ideas when it came to creating the perfect necklace:

"She wanted to create a necklace with charms that a mother could buy for herself and her daughter, so they could wear them together, which I thought was a lovely idea."

How much does the necklace Kate Middleton designed cost?

The necklace Kate helped design has evolved since its creation in 2007, and currently features only two charms instead of three. The designer says it's one of the best-selling pieces in her collection and can be purchased for €135.

“People buy it for those they love, not just for their children, sometimes even for their dogs! But of course, that mother-child connection is so powerful, and it’s a beautiful piece that still represents that feeling.”
