Meghan Markle was already married: her ex-husband is television producer Trevor Engelson, 41, who helped launch her career and whom those close to her describe as "shy and a workaholic." At the end of last year, the television producer had a project to launch a series (comedy-style) inspired by a breakup: although fictional, his private life would be present, because the protagonist is dumped by a woman who begins dating a member of the royal family.
According to the British newspaper The Sun, Meghan held talks with her ex to get him to abandon or at least suspend the sitcom project, and he agreed. The royal family fears being viewed negatively by millions of viewers.
The couple has rarely spoken since their separation, but they did speak about the project. They are far from being friends and maintaining a cordial relationship as exes, unlike other Hollywood couples.
