According to royal commentators, Prince William’s choice to remain silent toward Prince Harry over recent years is not simply a sign of distance, but a deliberate approach. The brothers’ relationship reportedly began to deteriorate well before Harry stepped away from royal duties in 2020.
Tensions are said to have deepened further following Harry and Meghan’s Netflix docuseries and the release of Harry’s memoir Spare, both of which included critical claims about the Royal Family.
As a result, Prince William is now described as maintaining what some observers call a “wall of silence” toward his brother.
Royal broadcaster and photographer Helena Chard suggested that this silence should not be seen as confusion or unresolved conflict, but rather as a calculated decision. She explained that Prince William appears to be distancing himself from ongoing controversies and avoiding further public drama.
In her view, this marks a long-term shift in approach, stating that William is effectively “done with drama” and choosing not to engage in what she described as a “circus” surrounding the ongoing royal tensions.
Chard added that the Prince of Wales’ silence is not accidental or unclear, but instead reflects a purposeful strategy and a broader reset in how he handles the situation.
