Looking back on the early stages of their relationship, Prince William once shared a light-hearted story about how Kate Middleton often stepped in to help him during awkward moments. He admitted that he frequently tried to impress her with home-cooked meals, although things rarely went as planned.
In their 2010 engagement interview with the BBC, both William and Kate reflected on those early days of their romance. Kate recalled feeling extremely shy when they first met, saying she “went bright red” and quickly walked away due to nervousness.
William, on the other hand, explained that as they spent more time together, their relationship gradually became more comfortable and natural, involving simple outings and shared time.
He also humorously described his early attempts at cooking for Kate, admitting that things often went wrong—food would burn, pots would overflow, and small kitchen accidents were common. During those moments, Kate would step in to help manage the situation, effectively taking control when things became chaotic. William added that he was actually relieved to have her there, as she kept everything under control when his efforts didn’t go as planned.
