‘Spare’ Memoir Was Engineered? Expert Exposes Meghan Markle Connection

Prince Harry’s criticism in Spare has once again come under scrutiny, with one expert suggesting that the narrative may not be entirely his own. TalkTV host and commentator Mark Dolan, speaking on YouTube alongside royal biographer Angela Levin, offered a strong critique of the Duke of Sussex’s portrayal of his father, King Charles.

Dolan defended King Charles, especially in relation to the period after Princess Diana’s tragic death in 1997, when Charles raised his sons largely as a single parent. He argued that the King faced immense responsibility during that time and did the best he could under difficult circumstances.

According to Dolan, Charles carried a “huge burden” while balancing his royal duties and parenting role. He also emphasized that, despite the ongoing public criticism from Prince Harry, the King’s feelings for his son remain unchanged. In his view, Charles continues to love Harry deeply, even in the face of repeated public accusations and negative claims.

The discussion also turned to Harry’s memoir Spare, where Dolan pointed to passages that present King Charles in a harsh light, suggesting he prioritised duty and personal interests over his children’s emotional needs. These portrayals, he noted, are clearly documented in the book.

However, Dolan questioned the accuracy of this depiction, echoing Angela Levin’s long-held stance that King Charles is often mischaracterised. Both suggested that the emotional distance described in Spare may not fully reflect reality.

Toward the end of the conversation, Dolan raised a more controversial theory—questioning whether Harry’s changed perspective in recent years could have been influenced by someone else. Levin responded by noting that such a drastic shift in attitude is unusual and often suggests outside influence rather than a complete personal transformation.

Dolan then pointed to the timeline of major changes in Harry’s life, asking what shifted around 2016–2017. His conclusion was pointed: the arrival of Meghan Markle, which he suggested marked a turning point in the Duke of Sussex’s personal and public narrative.
