Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly preparing a new Netflix series, sparking speculation about the streaming platform’s real motives.
TalkTV host Mark Dolan suggested that Netflix’s main interest lies in “royal gossip.” According to him, the streaming giant sees the Sussexes as a way to attract viewers curious about the royal family.
Dolan also noted that the couple “need money” and are moving through their savings quickly.
The upcoming project, co-produced by the Sussexes’ Archewell Productions and Fake Empire, will revolve around polo and be set in the high-profile equestrian town of Wellington, Florida.
Speaking about the series, Dolan said, “The couple has a few million in savings, but they’re spending it fast. For Netflix—and any other potential partner—the biggest draw is royal gossip.”
Meanwhile, PR expert Renae Smith offered guidance for the couple, emphasizing the importance of clarity in the show’s message. She cautioned that trying to make an exclusive sport like polo seem “for everyone” could backfire.
“The key is honesty,” Smith told The Express. “Audiences are fine watching wealth and privilege when it’s presented authentically. What they don’t respond to is being told it’s relatable or accessible when it clearly isn’t.”
Her advice highlights the need for Harry and Meghan to balance the allure of luxury with authenticity, ensuring viewers remain engaged without misrepresenting the elite world of polo.
