Fresh reports suggest the controversy involving the Duke of York could place increasing pressure on King Charles III, with some commentators even raising questions about the monarch’s future if the situation becomes more damaging for the Royal Family.
According to recent claims, Andrew is now facing allegations linked to inappropriate behavior said to have taken place during Royal Ascot in 2002. The accusations have added to a growing list of legal and reputational challenges surrounding the prince.
Earlier this year, detectives from Thames Valley Police confirmed they had contacted the lawyer representing a potential victim after reports emerged that a woman had allegedly been brought to Windsor in 2010, where Andrew was living on the royal estate at the time.
Investigators are also said to be concerned that the public believes their inquiry is limited only to misconduct allegations connected to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s former public duties. Authorities have additionally been examining claims that sensitive information may have been shared with disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein during Andrew’s time serving as the UK’s trade envoy.
While Andrew strongly denies all allegations and has not been formally charged, he reportedly remains under police caution as inquiries continue.
As scrutiny intensifies, debate surrounding the future of the monarchy has also grown louder. During an appearance on Sky News Australia, former Reform UK candidate Mayuran Senthilnathan claimed public concern is increasing over the ongoing scandal.
He stated that some people are beginning to question whether the King should eventually step aside if Andrew’s legal troubles worsen further, with suggestions that Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales could one day take on a greater leadership role within the monarchy.
