In recent developments, Thomas Markle has returned to the United States just days before Archie’s 7th birthday. Reports indicate that he traveled back from the Philippines following a serious health ordeal that resulted in the amputation of his leg.
Earlier this year, Thomas faced a life-threatening medical emergency when a blood clot formed in his left thigh, cutting off circulation to his foot. The condition, which developed around five months ago, led to complications that ultimately required surgical intervention.
After spending time in Cebu, where he had relocated last year in hopes of starting fresh far from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Thomas has now quietly moved back to the US and is said to be staying at a private, undisclosed location.
His daughter, Samantha Markle, explained that the decision to return was primarily driven by the need for consistent and high-quality medical care. She noted that being in the United States would give him access to advanced prosthetic treatment, as well as the emotional support of close friends and family during his recovery. Despite the physical and emotional challenges he has faced, she described the experience as something that has also brought him a sense of personal reflection and growth.
The timing of his return, coming shortly before Prince Archie’s birthday, has drawn attention, particularly given the ongoing distance between Thomas and his daughter.
The strained relationship dates back to the period surrounding Meghan’s 2018 wedding. Thomas had claimed he suffered two heart attacks just before the ceremony, preventing him from attending and walking his daughter down the aisle. However, Meghan reportedly believed his actions were motivated by a desire for media attention, which further deepened the rift.
Since then, the divide has remained unresolved. As a result, Thomas Markle has not only been estranged from Meghan but has also never met Prince Harry or his grandchildren—something he has repeatedly said brings him lasting heartbreak.
