Meghan Markle's wedding dress was one of the best-kept secrets for months. We have all the details of her entire ensemble below so you can get inspired or, at least, become an expert on this royal look.
The Dress
The design was by Clare Waight Keller, artistic director of Givenchy. The garment is white and made of silk cadi, a fabric with a stiff texture.
The Veil
Over five meters long and made of silk tulle, the veil was the star of the bridal look thanks to the significance of its embroidery. According to the Royal Household, it represents the 53 countries that make up the Commonwealth. The new Duchess of Sussex and the designer researched the flora of each territory and selected one for each country. In addition, two more flowers were added: the macassar flower, which grows in the gardens of Kensington Palace, and the California poppy, native to Meghan's birthplace.
The Tiara
Following tradition, the bride wore a tiara chosen from the royal jeweler's collection: the Queen Mary Bandeau Tiara, also known as the Filigree Tiara. This piece was crafted in 1932 for Queen Mary of Teck, wife of King George V of Great Britain and Ireland and grandmother of Queen Elizabeth II. The jewel is crafted from platinum and adorned with diamonds and brilliants.
The Bouquet
It was a small bouquet of lilies of the valley, astilbe, jasmine, astrantia, sweet peas, and sprigs of myrtle, tied with a soft silk ribbon. It was designed by florist Philippa Craddock. The flowers included forget-me-nots, one of Princess Diana's favorites. And according to reports, Prince Harry picked several flowers from his private garden at Kensington Palace to include in the bridal bouquet.
The shoes
As for her footwear, Meghan chose the same designer as her dress: Givenchy. These are satin silk stilettos in a perfect white, matching her wedding gown.
Makeup and hair
The makeup was done by makeup artist Daniel Martin, and the updo was created by Serge Normant. True to her natural and minimalist style, Meghan opted for a subtle smoky eye in dark gray, minimal eyeliner, and mascara. Her lips were a nude pink. The bride forgone foundation and only used primer, as she wanted to highlight her natural freckles.
