Meghan Markle is facing renewed criticism over what some observers describe as inconsistencies in her approach to social media and privacy, particularly involving her children.
The Duchess of Sussex recently returned to Instagram to share a post celebrating her daughter Princess Lilibet’s fifth birthday, a move that has reignited debate about her previous emphasis on protecting her family’s private life.
Royal commentator Duncan Larcombe suggested that critics may interpret her posts as contradictory. Speaking to The Mirror, he said some detractors believe her content could be seen as using her children to attract attention online, despite earlier calls for greater privacy.
He also commented that Meghan’s approach appears, in his view, carefully managed and highly curated, adding that the content often places her at the center of the imagery. According to him, this has led some to question whether her public messaging aligns with her personal actions.
Larcombe further argued that while sharing family moments online is not inherently unusual, Meghan’s public advocacy for child privacy makes the visibility of her children a point of scrutiny. He suggested that this contrast is what fuels ongoing debate around her social media strategy.
