Conservative Princess Kate's Biggest Transformation: New Hairstyle Surprises, Overgrown Bangs and Balayage

Princess Kate is moving with the times. Or rather, she's slowly moving forward. She's added more pink to her wardrobe as part of the Barbiecore craze and has now been tempted by longer bangs, the so-called curtain bangs. And how could she not? It suits her!

Eccentric trends and dramatic changes in appearance – these are not exactly the typical hallmarks of the British royal family. However, elegance, refined style and timeless beauty are. Despite this, Princess Kate is considered a fashion icon – she can take current trends in her own way and incorporate them into her sleek style. She recently showed off her new hair – and it's gorgeous.

Longer bangs in Kate's style

The princess appeared in public during a visit to a men's prison in Surrey and surprised everyone with a new hairstyle. She had a parting in the middle, which is not very common, and her face was framed by strands cut into curtain bangs (= longer, divided bangs) and turned outwards. Combined with the waves, this created cascades that beautifully lit up her face.

And if you look at the picture closer, you will notice that her curls have been subtly highlighted with the balayage technique, so that it only looks like it was from the sun. These are small changes, but for the trained eye of a royal family fan they are essential!

How time passes with Princess Kate's hairstyles

The Princess of Wales was blessed with thick and high-quality hair. And when someone skilled styles her hair properly before she leaves Kensington Palace, it is no wonder that it is always a great spectacle.

Her hairstyles are usually fluffy, full of volume and shine and very often her hair is curled inwards (when it is shorter). Sometimes she swaps a large round brush for a curling iron, but she is more likely to be seen with fluffy cascades. And that is exactly the style that is trendy again and that she herself wore when she got engaged to Prince William in 2010. Now she wears her hair very long and has added an even more expressive cut and modern bangs.

We are skipping fascinators and buns this time, but instead enjoy the cut and perfect waves. The princess doesn't often wear her hair combed up off her face because she has a scar from a childhood surgery near her temple. Although we couldn't leave out one bun with which she amazed James Bond himself:

Do you want to have hair like a princess?

The princess's hairstyles and cuts are done by hairdresser Amanda Cook Tucker, who comes to her home, to Kensington Palace, to cut her hair. And how can you imitate her work? The key is to get your hair cut well (have you heard of a butterfly cut?), because it holds its shape better. The way to do this is by blow-drying it with a round brush or curling iron. For more bouncy volume, hair cut just below the collarbones will have more bounce – and it also needs to be in good condition and hydrated.
