After several years without traveling to the UK for a public engagement with Prince Harry, it appears Meghan Markle could make a long-awaited return. According to a recent report, the Duchess of Sussex is considering accompanying her husband to the 2027 Invictus Games, an event that would take place in Birmingham and would mark her first public engagement on British soil since she and Harry stepped down as senior members of the Royal Family in 2020.
Although there has been no official confirmation from the Sussexes, the possibility has generated considerable interest among royal watchers, as it would be a very significant moment for both Meghan and Prince Harry.
The Invictus Games Could Be the Reason for Meghan Markle's Return
According to a report published in international media, Meghan Markle is reportedly willing to travel to the United Kingdom to support Prince Harry during the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham, an international competition created by the Duke of Sussex in 2014 for wounded, sick, or injured service members and veterans.
Since its inception, Meghan has consistently supported the project. Even before her marriage to Harry, she made one of her first public appearances alongside him during the 2017 Invictus Games in Toronto. Since then, they have attended various editions of the event together, making it one of the couple's most important charitable causes.
If the trip materializes, it would be Meghan's first public engagement in the United Kingdom in six years.
Security Remains a Key Issue
Meghan Markle's potential return also brings to the forefront one of Prince Harry's biggest concerns: the safety of his family during visits to the United Kingdom.
In recent years, Harry has publicly stated his desire for Meghan Markle, Archie, and Lilibet to be able to travel to the UK without worry, although he believes current security measures are insufficient. For this reason, he has pursued various legal actions related to their security when visiting British soil.
While the report doesn't confirm whether Archie and Lilibet would accompany their parents on this potential trip, it does fuel expectations of a possible family return to the United Kingdom.
For now, everything remains in the realm of speculation and media reports. However, the possibility of seeing Meghan Markle again at a British public engagement during the 2027 Invictus Games is a scenario that many royal watchers will follow closely, especially given the significance of this event for Prince Harry and the role they have both played in his upbringing over the years.
