The reports follow claims that Prince Harry and King Charles recently spent time together in Britain alongside Meghan Markle and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, in what has been described as an effort to strengthen family ties.
Sources quoted in media reports suggest that organisers of the Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 are considering inviting King Charles to participate in either the opening or closing ceremony. The invitation could also include opportunities for the monarch to meet athletes and attend several sporting events during the competition.
One insider claimed that Harry hopes his father's presence would serve two important purposes. Beyond showing support for the Invictus Games, the King's attendance could also strengthen Harry's position when discussing security arrangements for his family if they travel to the United Kingdom for the event.
Another source reportedly said the 2027 Games hold special significance for Prince Harry, adding that he is determined to make the Birmingham edition the most successful in the competition's history. Having King Charles attend, the source suggested, would make the occasion especially meaningful for the Duke.
However, royal expert Angela Levin has expressed doubts that the King will be able to attend. Sharing her opinion on social media, Levin pointed out that the timing of the Games is expected to coincide with Queen Camilla's 80th birthday celebrations.
According to Levin, the milestone birthday is likely to be marked with major royal events, making it unlikely that King Charles would travel to the Invictus Games during the same period.
At this stage, Buckingham Palace has not announced whether the King will receive or accept an invitation to the 2027 Games. Likewise, no official confirmation has been issued regarding his attendance.
