Debbie Rowe, Michael Jackson's ex-wife, reveals that the singer's children are from a sperm donor
After several cases of sexual abuse of minors came to light with the documentary Leaving Neverland, available on demand on Movistar +, the image of Michael Jackson is increasingly tarnished. The last to air more dirty laundry of the singer has been Debbie Rowe, the nurse who became his wife and mother of his two oldest children, Prince and Paris. Rowe, who was married to the king of pop from 1996 to 1999, has admitted that the sons, who are now 22 and 20, were born to a sperm donor and never had sex.
The nurse confesses that she felt like a mare used to procreate during her marriage. “They fertilized me. In the same way that I fertilize my mares to reproduce. It was very technical. I was her thoroughbred ”, she explained to The Sun newspaper. The children were born with fair skin, blonde hair, and blue eyes, which called into question Jackson's paternity. But it was now that Debbie Rowe wanted to explain what happened.
The two met at a dermatology clinic, where she worked as a nursing assistant. For 15 years they maintained a solid friendship relationship. In 1996 they were married in Sydney. She was 37 years old and the author of Thriller, 38 and had just been divorced just three months ago from Lisa Marie Presley. “Michael was divorced, lonely and wanted to have children. I was the one who told him: "I will have your babies," reveals Rowe, who is 60 years old. He gave birth to the singer's first two children: Prince was born in 1997 and Paris in 1998. And it was already said then that it was through artificial insemination.
The marriage ended in October 1999. Rowe gave up his rights to the children, although an appeals court dismissed his request, so the ex-couple had to reach an out-of-court settlement for Jackson to retain custody of the children. Then Rowe declared: “They are her children, I had them for her. They wouldn't have been born if it hadn't been for my love for him. I did it so that I would become a father, not to become a mother ”. After their divorce he was left with custody of the children. Already in 2002, the singer had a third child, nicknamed Blanket, who according to what he himself had been conceived with his sperm through a surrogacy.
After the death of Michael Jackson, in 2009, Rowe began a new legal battle against the singer's mother, Katherine Jackson, who had been left with custody of the singer's three children. Jackson wrote in her will that her mother would be in charge of raising the children and appointed singer Diana Ross as second guardian.
The artist left Rowe out of any inheritance. Finally, Katherine and Rowe managed to reach an agreement: the children would remain under the guardianship of their grandmother, but their mother would have the right to visit them. Thanks to these family encounters, Debbie was able to regain the affection of her children. In July 2016, the nurse was diagnosed with breast cancer, and Paris became a great support for her in those hard times.
In 2014, five years after Michael Jackson's death, the nurse became engaged to Marc Schaffel, a former partner and producer of the singer. The artist's ex-wife told show news post TMZ that she met Schaffel when he was working for the "king of pop" and they have been friends ever since.
