The businesswoman confirms her relationship with the British prime minister in an interview
The American businesswoman Jennifer Arcuri has taken for granted in an interview published this weekend by the tabloid Daily Mail that she had a romantic affair with the now British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson. The Conservative leader avoided a criminal investigation this year for allegedly favoring her when he was mayor of London, between 2008 and 2016.
When questioned about this "affair", which would have happened when the Conservative leader was still married, Arcuri replied: "I think it goes without saying, it is basically everywhere, but I am not going to talk about it."
"At that time I was deeply concerned about her, although I never used the 'A' word (for 'love'). She wouldn't have recognized being in love. I cared a lot about that man and I think that makes it absolutely clear. That's all I want to say, ”added the 35-year-old businesswoman.
Arcuri, an entrepreneur in the technology sector, received about 141,000 euros in public money and had access to several trade missions of the London City Council abroad when Johnson was the first mayor, according to British media.
The now 56-year-old head of government participated as a guest speaker in various presentations by the Arcuri company, although he has denied at all times having acted to benefit the businesswoman.
Last May, the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC), the supervisor of the Police, decided that Johnson would not be subjected to a criminal investigation in this case. The agency concluded that Johnson had a "close association" with the woman and perhaps an "intimate relationship" between them, but found no basis for an inquiry into the conduct of the conserved leader.
