Anyone would think that the charisma and altruism that have always characterized Meghan Markle would make her a much loved public figure in the UK ... but the detractors have never been lacking.

The Duchess of Sussex has publicly acknowledged defamation against her, pointing out in court along with Prince Harry, two English tabloids in particular: Mail on Sunday and Daily Mail.

The latter was taken up by model Janina Gavankar to defend the Christmas postcard that she herself took from Meghan, Harry and little Archie.

It all started with a Daily Mail article claiming there was "a lot of Photoshop" on the postcard, stating that the Duchess looked blurry and that Prince Harry seemed "not to be there at all."

As the photographer, Janina used social media to defend the Dukes of Sussex and her own captured image. Through Twitter, the model made it clear that she had not used complex retouching (outside of the black and white filter):

«I am very proud to have taken the Christmas photo of one of my best friends and her family. Here's the original as shipped. "

With the foregoing, Janina reversed the accusation of "digital retouching" to Daily Mail, stating that possibly the editorial staff of said medium had discreetly intervened the photo. The above, to complement the article where they pointed out the "abuse of Photoshop".

In a second tweet, Janina reproached the aforementioned tabloid for setting up an alleged black campaign against Meghan Markle. The supportive reactions for the model and the Sussex family did not wait:

and for (Daily) Mail, I see that your campaign against my friend continues. Nice Photoshop of my image without Photoshop. Now we all better get back to the spirit of Christmas and put aside the spirit of malice.

Since her foray into British royalty, Meghan Markle has faced harassment, something the current Duke of Sussex is no longer willing to tolerate.

In mid-2019, Prince Harry announced that he will defend his wife from any tabloid attack. To do this, he hired the lawyer Keith Schilling - the most prestigious in anti-defamation matters - and with him he is leading lawsuit processes that involve the Mail on Sunday and the Daily Mail.
