Meet The Hollywood Actors' Stuntmen
While almost all movies and videos these days require a lot of computer animation and special effects, there are still some extremely talented people in movies who make technology unnecessary. Whether it's an action movie or just an intense scene, there are times when even the best actors just aren't comfortable or unable to pull off the necessary stunts. That's where stuntmen come into play.
Sometimes stars end up befriending their stuntmen, which makes it even easier to work with them. Other times, they differ greatly in age, but still have a good working relationship. Whether they become best friends or not, there is a fairly specific requirement to be a stunt stunt double - they must resemble the actor they play. Sometimes the similarities are so obvious that you can barely distinguish between the two people. Read on and you will see how these famous actors' stuntmen completely ruin our illusion.
Carrie Fisher and Tracey Eddon
Possibly one of the most iconic scenes in film history that we all remember is the one in which Princess Leia wears a gold bikini. What's even more interesting is that Carrie Fisher wasn't alone on the set of "Star Wars: Return of the Jedi."
In fact, perhaps the woman Ross fantasized about on "Friends" was actually her stunt double, Tracey Eddon. Well, probably not, but the action scenes would not have been possible without her. In addition to talent, Eddon and Fisher shared their friendship on the film set and were often seen hanging out together between takes.
Robert De Niro and Rick Avery
Although Robert De Niro appears to be a tough man that no one would like to have a problem with, all actors need a stunt double from time to time. In the photos from the set of “Dirty Grandpa” they may not know who is who, even when they are standing next to each other.
It may seem quite difficult to perfect De Niro's classic scowl face, but Rick Avery is very clear on how to do it, as he has been Robert's stuntman in several movies, such as: "Killing Season," " Grudge Match, "" The Intern, "" Joy, "and" The Comeback Trail, "which is in post production right now.
Mark Ruffalo and Anthony Molinari
No, Mark Ruffalo does not have a twin, but he does have a "doppelgänger" (known German term for "evil twin" or simply "double") that can pose as him. We also hear this term mentioned in the series "How I Met Your Mother", where each protagonist had her alternative version walking around the city.
Returning to our thing, Anthony Molinari had a perfect participation in making scenes of Mark, in the movie "Now You See Me" and in its sequel. He has also doubled for George Clooney. However, the similarities between Molinari and Ruffalo are simply astonishing. This talented stuntman has acted in more than 100 television series and has had a successful career that has even led to him winning various awards.
Uma Thurman and Zoë Bell
In addition to her role in "Pulp Fiction," "Kill Bill" is probably one of Uma Thurman's best-known films. She plays a very stubborn character known as “The Bride” (in Spanish: “the bride”), who after having survived a massacre on her wedding day, decides to unleash her revenge and end her life of each of those responsible for this fact.
There are numerous action and fight scenes throughout the movie. Most of these scenes couldn't have been possible without her stunt double, Zoë Bell. Bell backed "The Bride" with various stunts in "Kill Bill: Vol. 1 "and" Kill Bill: vol. two". She was also Lucy Lawless' double in "Xena: Warrior Princess."
Ben Affleck and Richard Cetrone
It turns out that Richard Cetrone has a very similar beard and hairstyle when it comes to being Ben Affleck's double. From a distance, they probably look very similar, but when we look at them up close, we just can't help but notice the difference in their gaze. Cetrone must be doing a great job though, because he's already been Affleck's stuntman in a total of five movies.
He is the man behind Batman's stunts in "Justice League," "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and "Suicide Squad." I also accompany Ben on "The Accountant" and "Triple Frontier." Apparently he is very good for superhero movies, since he also participated in "Wonder Woman", "Iron Man" and "Iron Man 2", among others.
Harrison Ford and Vic Armstrong
According to "The Guiness Book of World Records", Vic Armstrong is the world's most prolific stunt double. Perhaps his best known appearances are in the first three "Indiana Jones" movies.
Whether it's because he looks a lot like Harrison Ford or because he's so good at what he does, Armstrong has been Ford's double in a total of eleven movies. Now that is prolific. It has even been considered "The Second Indiana Jones": Be careful, Harrison!
Brad Pitt and Domonkos Pardanyi
Brad Pitt had several stuntmen when filming "World War Z", but Domonkos Pardanyi was good enough to also accompany him on the set of "The Counselor." Pardanyi doesn't necessarily look like Pitt, but he's an expert at what he does and a wig can easily solve the problem of likeness.
He has done various jobs throughout his time in Hollywood, but perhaps the most notable was on "Game of Thrones" for which he won two "Actors Guild Awards" for his performance on the show.
Johnny Depp and Tony Angelotti
Johnny Depp may be irreplaceable, but with a lot of makeup and the right costume, it's not that hard to look like Jack Sparrow. Depp did intensive training and character research for his role as the amazing Captain Sparrow, but even he needed a stuntman during the filming of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies.
Tony Angelotti was the man for the job, in at least three of the movies. Although not as bold as other stuntmen, Angelotti also worked on "The Amazing Spider-Man" and "The Mask of Zorro."
Quvenzhané Wallis and His Body Double
Legally, Quvenzhané Wallis was not allowed to perform her own stunts, even if she wanted to, because she was only ten years old when the movie "Annie" was filmed. With her energetic and charming personality, Wallis played her role like a pro.
And that includes all the dance numbers with the help of her stunt double, who was many years older but strikingly similar in appearance. The two were often seen practicing behind-the-scenes moves together to make sure they could get it right.
Shia LaBeouf and Colin Follenweider
We may not be able to get along with more than one Shia LaBeouf, but we didn't even realize that there were two different people playing Sam Witwicky in "Transformers." Colin Follenweider and LaBeouf appear to be the same person in the images from the set.
There's really no one better to cast as a stuntman than someone so much like the actor, you can barely make out who is who. In addition to his looks, Follenweider has demonstrated his talents as a stuntman through his work on "Doctor Strange" and multiple "X-Men" films.
Lynda Carter and Jeannie Epper
No one can save the world alone, and that's certainly the case with the original "Wonder Woman." Lynda Carter and her stunt double, Jeannie Epper, teamed up to play “Diana Prince” and the dynamic duo ended up doing a fantastic job. The two even became friends while filming.
In fact, when Epper's son told his class that his mother was in "Wonder Woman" and they didn't believe him, Carter had the entire group on set text the children to prove that Jeannie's son was saying the truth.
Tom Cruise and Casey O'Neill
Casey O'Neill must be doing the right things in life if his career includes being a replacement for Tom Cruise. Casey has been Cruise's stuntman in six different films, including "War of the Worlds" and two in the "Mission Impossible" series.
O'Neill may not be famous for his looks or his taste for first-class women, but he is responsible for the great stunts that can be seen in many of the action films Cruise has starred in.
Chris Hemsworth and Bobby Holland Hanton
It makes sense that Thor needs backup to do some of his superhero duties. After all, we cannot save the world on our own. Chris Hemsworth has a nearly identical stunt double for the Marvel movie franchise he must perform. It was surely quite difficult to find someone who not only looks like Hemsworth, but is also muscular enough to be mistaken for the actor.
Bobby Holland Hanton had to do a lot of physical exercise to be able to look like the muscular Thor. During filming, he had to train twice a day and eat a lot of calories packed with healthy fats, carbohydrates, and protein. With the costume on, wig and full makeup, you hardly notice the difference between the two.
The Rock and Tanoai Reed
Who better to play your double than someone of your own blood? Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson brought in his cousin, Tanoai Reed, to be his stunt double in the movie "Scorpion King." The two look alike to each other, so the decision makes sense.
And since then they have been using the movies as time to spend family time. The native of Hawaii has to keep physically up to date, so as not to lose track of his cousin. Is it also something familiar, the famous movement of the eyebrows that we all know and love from Dwayne?
Rupert Grint and Anthony Knight
There will never be another "Ron Weasley" ... will there? Anthony Knight surely makes a great doppelganger for our favorite red-haired wizard. He has performed stunts in six of the eight "Harry Potter" films, three specifically for Rupert Grint.
Although he has yet to take his stunts outside of the wizarding world of Hogwarts, we are confident that he will do great things in the film industry. At worst, he's going to be Grint's stuntman in any of his future performances, and that's not a bad job at all.
Rebel Wilson and Meredith Richardson
While Rebel Wilson usually does her own stunts, getting hit by a food truck isn't one of them. In the production of “Isn’t it Romantic,” he asked his stunt double Meredith Richardson to intervene. Wilson suffered a mild concussion during the making of the movie, so perhaps it was a good idea to let Richardson perform that feat.
We hope we didn't ruin the scene, but surely we won't even notice when Rebel is on the scene or when Meredith is on screen.
Elizabeth Banks and Krista Bell
Elizabeth Banks is a hilarious comedian and an amazing actress, but even she needs a stuntman sometimes. She has rocked the screen in various roles and this time we are going to talk about her action scenes in Power Rangers.
Banks suggested Krista Bell as a stuntman to help with the film's more intense and risky shots. Bell is no stranger to stunts and has been seen in "Hulk," "Iron Man 2" and "Deadpool." So it was the right choice to help play "Rita Repulsa."
Margot Robbie and Ingrid Kleinig
We're not sure the world can deal with more than one "Harley Quinn," but what about her double? The two look so alike that, with full outfits and makeup, they could easily be mistaken for one another. It's no wonder Ingrid Kleinig was cast in the role.
Kleinig has been a stunt double for Margot Robbie not only in "Suicide Squad," but also in "Legend of Tarzan." Two very different roles with the same two brilliant women behind them.
Nicole Kidman and Alicia Vela-Bailey
Nicole Kidman may be one of the most talented actresses, but that doesn't mean she's a professional hula dancer. However, that doesn't matter because her dance stunt double, Alicia Vela-Bailey, is an expert dancer.
In probably the funniest scene on "Just Go With It," Vela-Bailey helped Kidman get her opponent, "Jennifer Aniston," out of the hula competition. The "double" woman has a fairly extensive resume that includes stunts in movies like "Avatar", "Wonder Woman" and "Divergent."
Taylor Lautner and Gabriel Núñez
While no one will be able to look like Taylor Lautner, her double on “Tracers” is pretty close. Gabriel Núñez was probably born a savage, since it is natural for him to perform stunts and tricks. A few years ago, Núñez founded a group of runners and later created a brand and a training center.
This stuntman hasn't been seen in a movie in a couple of years, but he was active for more than a decade in the industry. He even voiced Lautner again in "The Ridiculous 6" and helped with stunts in some "Twilight" movies.
Natalie Portman and Sarah Lane
Natalie Portman, a mega recognized and award-winning actress, has for years been praised for her performance as the dancer who goes berserk in "Black Swan." Portman is said to have done most of the dance shots herself after only training for a year and a half.
The actress worked very hard to play this role, but the film could not have been produced without Sarah Lane, a professional dancer. Lane wasn't recognized as much for what she did, however she did play a huge role in making the choreographies amazing.
Daniel Craig and Garvin Cross
And here we have Daniel Craig's twin brother. Oh no, wait, they don't even have a family bond. It would seem that Garvin Cross's last name should actually be Craig, however, he's just a body double to the actor, not a blood relative.
These two should be together in a movie called "Twins separated at birth." We're actually surprised Garvin was only Daniel's stuntman in one movie, “Dream House,” because we assume he'd back him up in all of his great action movies.
Emilia Clarke and Rosie Mac
No one could have been a better fit to double as "Daenerys Targaryen." The two look like twins, from the blonde wigs and brown eyebrows to the pink lips and blue eyes.
It's actually quite surprising that Rosie Mac was Emilia Clarke's stunt double for just ten episodes on "Game of Thrones," given we're not sure they can find someone better for the job. Other than a participation in an adaptation of "Little Mermaid" in 2016, Mac has not had any other recognized roles.
Tom Cruise and Ben Stiller
No, Ben Stiller was never Tom Cruise's double. This was in a parody the two did during the hit of "Mission Impossible II" for the "MTV Movie Awards." Stiller played the role of Cruise's stuntman who was so committed to the role that he even legally changed his name to "Tom Crooze."
"Crooze" said in the parody that to be the best stunt double, you really have to "become one with the actor"; you have to walk and talk exactly like the person you turn.
Vin Diesel and Joe Watts
"Fast and Furious 9" had to temporarily halt production on the film after a stunt went terribly wrong on July 22. Vin Diesel's stuntman Joe Watts fell helplessly after a cable failed to deploy properly.
The entire cast and crew were eyewitnesses to the accident, which left Joe fighting for his life. The entire stunt community has been shocked by this fact and it serves as a reminder of just how dangerous this type of work really is.
