Real snub? Kate Middleton turns 38 and celebrates it without the Dukes of Sussex
For the second year in a row, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were not invited to the Duchess of Cambridge's birthday. Why didn't Kate Middleton include her brothers-in-law in the festivities last weekend? Let's see.
At the last edition of Wimbledon, in the middle of last year, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle showed that they are not enemies and that their relationship was quite good despite rumors that there was a strong rivalry between them and their husbands.
During the famous tennis tournament, the duchesses did not stop smiling and exchanging opinions about the sporting event. It is even said that the duchesses became closer after the birth of little Archie Harrison, since motherhood made them realize that they have several things in common. Sources close to the royals point out that Markle approached Middleton for advice in her early days as a mom.
Party in private
However, it took a few months for the suspicions to return again that their relationship is not as positive as they appear. One of the most recent events that reveals these tensions took place in the framework of the celebrations for the 38th birthday of Prince William's wife.
Although Kate was born on January 9, nothing prevented - as is customary - start the festivities the weekend before. The mother of Princes George, Charlotte and Louise was caught with her family and some friends at her Anmer Hall country house in Sandringham.
But it was not precisely the look of the honored or the gifts she received that attracted the general attention but two notable absences: Harry and Meghan. Immediately, the British media such as "The Daily Express" reported that the Sussexes had not been invited to the celebration.
Everything has an explanation
For some, this would corroborate the bad relationship between the duchesses. However, there is a specific reason why Archie's parents did not show up: they were in Canada.
As recalled, Prince Harry and his wife decided to take a six-week break and spend their first family holiday outside the UK. For this reason, the royal couple also did not attend the Christmas celebrations organized by Queen Elizabeth II in Norfolk.
However, it should be remembered that last year Kate Middleton celebrated her 37th birthday with two evenings and the Sussexes did not attend any of them. The reason? A mystery.
Controversial message
Interestingly, on Kate Middleton's special day, the only thing that is talked about is Meghan Markle. On the eve, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex renounced their privileges within the British royal family. It is understood that the couple had intense conversations before making the decision to step aside and although the statement they issued took everyone by surprise, one part of it is particularly striking.
It is about the apparent exclusion of the Duchess of Cambridge within it. At all times, the Sussexes only speak of their work towards the Queen, Prince Charles and the Duke of Cambridge (yes, singular). We can assume that the message is addressed only to those who are part of the line of succession to the British throne.
