These are the 10 things you did not know about Michael Jackson and that he wanted to hide
Michael Jackson was full of secrets, these are some of the most mysterious.
Although so much ink has run over the silhouette of Michael Jackson over the last three decades that today there should be no person on the planet who does not know how to relate his surname to the nickname of the "King of Pop", his life, career and death continue wrapped in a cloak of mystery. Despite the fact that, for some, he was a living legend, a genius with all the letters and a visionary who advanced his time, others called him a freak, and think of him as an extremely immature and too extravagant man. However, some facts related to Michael remain an enigma even for his most devoted fans… These are some of them.
1. He didn't invent the Moonwalk.
Although "moonwalk" is the most recognized step in the world, and can be called the king of dance movements, despite what is believed, it was not MJ who had invented it. In fact, when the future King of Pop performed his song "Billie Jean" during a Motown (record label employing him) anniversary in 1983, he only spread the moonwalk, and made it his signature move. However, the same artist already in his autobiography (by the way, titled "Moonwalk") said that he learned the moonwalk from some children who were playing in the street of a neighborhood in his hometown, Gary, in the state of Indiana.
2. He had his own video game
When Michael Jackson was just a famous eccentric half, Sega released a video game based on his figure: "Moonwalker." The invention stood out for being the first example of a video game in which a famous person appeared, and for some of MJ's songs used in digital format.
3. His "Billie Jean" was a phenomenon
It's a fact: about “Thriller”, the best-selling album on the planet, much more is said than about the musical works of which it is composed. Consequently, few know that “Billie Jean” was not only the first past video on MTV, written by an artist of color, but also one of Michael Jackson's best compositions. In 1984 the same song won two Grammy Awards, and in 2005 it was proclaimed by Blender magazine the best song created since 1980.
4. Not only did he suffer from vitiligo
When the news of his plastic surgeries became public (and it was impossible not to notice the changes in his physical appearance), the singer immediately had to face strong and omnipresent criticism. Everyone began to talk about the money spent by the King of Pop in operations, and the real reason for them. However, no one believed when the artist admitted suffering from vitiligo, although over time several photos of MJ have been published, on whose skin different white spots were noted. In addition, he suffered from a rare genetic disease: alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency.
5. His best friend was a chimpanzee named Bubbles
From the beginning of the 80s the King of Pop and the cute animal were almost inseparable. The little boy appeared several times in public with his owner (he even appeared in one of his videos, “Liberian Girl”), ate at Michael's table, slept in a crib, and learned to use the toilet alone. However, after the birth of their first child, Prince, MJ (concerned about the size and aggressiveness of the animal he had raised) was forced to leave it in a sanctuary. Today, according to the news, Bubbles spends his time painting, listening to the music of the flute, and meeting Sam, his other chimpanzee friend.
6. The "Wacko-Jacko" created his own legend
By the mid-eighties, thanks to the skin bleaching process, Jackson has become a tabloid phenomenon. He got to earn a burlesque nickname of "Wacko Jacko" ("Jackson the nutty"), which he despised throughout his life, although most of the rumors and gossip that used to appear in the pink press ... he invented them himself. For example, it was believed that the King of Pop used to sleep in an oxygen chamber to preserve his youth, and that in his time he tried to acquire the remains of the elephant-man, Joseph Merrick. These - and many more - occurrences were invented by MJ himself and his manager, Frank Dileo.
7. He wore strange perfumes and had his own fragrance
Have you ever thought about how Michael Jackson smelled? The answers are two. The first one was provided by Karen Faye (his cooperator and friend), who revealed that the singer loved the perfume "Bal a Versailles" by Jean Desprez from 1962. It would not be anything strange, if it were not a fragrance for women 🙂― Another curiosity is the fact that in 2009 a perfume based on the… artist's DNA was launched. The scent has been created by My DNA Fragrance, an American company, which specializes in differentiating the DNA from the hair of famous people. They recreated, among others, the smell of Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley or Napoleon Bonaparte!
8. Had at least two godchildren
It is generally known that the King of Pop's acquaintances included famous politicians, writers, television presenters, actors, singers and… monarchs. Also, the friendship he formed with Lionel Ritchie and Barry Gibb was so strong that the two decided to make MJ the godfather of their children. Thanks to the trust of the leader of the Bee Gees and Lionel Richie, Michael Jackson was able to boast of having a godson (Michael Gibb) and a goddaughter (Nicole Richie). However, he not only agreed to be their godfather, as it was also for Paris Hilton and the children of her various relatives.
9. "The King of Pop"
Almost no one is really aware that the first person who had addressed Michael using the expression that today is usually associated solely with him, was his great friend and partner: the actress, Elizabeth Taylor. In this way, the incomparable star of the big screen has announced to the world his amazement and respect for the work of MJ. This was announced at a ceremony, before having awarded him an award: it was then, when the world began to think of him as the King of Pop.
10. I wanted to be ... Spiderman
All of us have dreamed of possessing superpowers, but it was usually just fantasy. Michael Jackson's obsession was something more serious: he wanted to produce a Spiderman movie, in which the main role would be played by himself. Unfortunately for him, this plan could not be realized, since the actor chosen to play the role of Spider-Man ended up being Tobey Maguire. By the way, Michael himself during his career has been lucky to act in some movies, videos and television shows. In fact, still in 1973 - at 15 years of age! - he won a Golden Globe for the best original song to the movie "Ben".
