Harry's ex speaks: "Living in the English royal family is scary"
When marrying a prince is not exactly the affair of life, according to Cressida Bonas, who explained in an interview the reasons that would have led her to leave Prince Harry, giving up an (apparently) fairytale life
Many women dream of marrying a prince. It is useless to hide behind a finger or ask how much Disney fairy tales have conditioned girls and girls in this sense (for better or for worse). Until a few years ago, Prince Harry was the most "popular" among girls, the golden bachelor. Meghan Markle managed to win his heart and by then all the others should have put their souls in peace. Almost all of us thought that with the wedding one of those storybooks opened up for the Duchess of Sussex in which the protagonists live in a magnificent castle, happily ever after.
But no.
Some believe that the life of people like Harry and Meghan is always easy and privileged. Of course this has a very solid foundation of truth, but we are talking about a relative truth, not an absolute one. In the now famous ITV documentary, "Harry and Meghan. An African Journey ”, Meghan Markle revealed without half measures that royal life is not just parties, dresses and tiaras, confessing:“ I exist but I don't live, I'm not too well ”. For this sentence, the Duchess was criticized: how is it possible that Meghan feels suffocated at court? He has everything he wants, power, luxury, youth, beauty, a perfect family. How can she be so "ungrateful"?
When Meghan Markle and Prince Harry decided to leave the royal family, triggering the Megxit bomb, the controversies of this type reappeared. Why, some wondered, Kate Middleton manages to "hold" the royal rhythm well, is she always perfect and never complains? For an even trivial reason in its simplicity. We are not all the same and we are not all brought in the same way for a certain type of life even if at a high level. There is also someone else who recently tried to explain to us the pitfalls of life at court, the fear that a royal palace that contains centuries of history can cause. This someone is Cressida Bonas, one of Prince Harry's most famous exes. Indirectly, Cressida has empathized with the fragility expressed by Meghan Markle, giving more strength to the proverb according to which “all that glitters is not gold”.
It was Princess Eugenie who introduced Cressida Bonas to the Duke of Sussex. Their love story lasted from 2012 to 2014. Now the girl is about to marry another who, not even on purpose, is called Harry and has embarked on a promising career as an actress (another detail in common with Meghan). In a recent interview with the Australian version of the Daily Telegraph Cressida Bonas explained why she decided not to marry Prince Harry, abandoning the dream of a life of a thousand and one nights. Cressida said: "The fear of failure, of rejection, the fear of making mistakes and also that of not being perfect ... I think these fears have limited me a lot during certain periods of my life". Concepts reaffirmed also in the podcast "Fear Itself". The fear of not being up to par, of not being enough, would have decisively changed the destiny of Cressida Bonas and Prince Harry.
According to royal expert Katie Nicholl's book, “Harry. Life, Loss and Love ”, there would also have been a very precise moment when Cressida would have realized that life as a royal was not for her. It was 2014 and the young woman was watching the images of William and Kate's royal tour in Australia and New Zealand on television. The Dukes of Cambridge were accompanied by baby George and this portrait of a happy family but constantly in the spotlight would have set off an alarm bell in the heart of Cressida Bonas.
In this regard Nicholl wrote: “Cressida was scared watching the TV report on Prince William, Kate and George during the royal tour in New Zealand and Australia that spring. He didn't want that kind of attention at all and told Harry. ” Apparently Prince Harry was very much in love with Cressida and tried to make her change her mind, to convince her that their life together would be different. Too late. The decision was now made. Katie Nicholl said: "Harry took a hard hit when she said 'I can't do this'. I think it broke his heart. Twice Harry was left heartbroken because the women he fell in love with didn't want to share the kind of life he was born into. "
In fact, the Duke of Sussex had already faced a similar situation with his first love, Chelsy Davy. The relationship between the two went on from 2004 to 2010 between ups and downs. It appears that Chelsy eventually gave up on Harry too out of fear of the family and media pressures he would face after the wedding. Again, Davy would observe her fate through William and Kate. The occasion would have been the wedding of the Dukes of Cambridge. Her entire future would pass before Chelsy's eyes and she would have opted for escape.
Some tabloids claim that she regretted this choice, especially when Harry and Meghan's royal wedding was imminent. However both Cressida and Chelsy are no longer labeled as Prince Harry's ex-girlfriends. They have built different and fulfilling lives, the first in the cinema, the second in the business world.
