Jon Voight, father of Angelina Jolie and faithful defender of Trump, will receive the Medal of Arts at the White House

The actor will be recognized by the US president for his "exceptional ability to play deeply complex characters"

Despite the fact that Donald Trump does not have the sympathy of the majority of artists in Hollywood, there are still some Republican actors with beliefs very similar to those of the businessman who support and defend him no matter what the controversies in which he is involved, that usually have to do with off-tone statements or inflammatory messages on social networks.

After it became known in March of this year that the American president had appointed actor Jon Voight, Angelina Jolie's father, as one of the new members of the Board of Trustees of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (an entity who manages some of the great artistic institutions of the country), now comes the second part of public recognition for him, who is a great defender of Trump's policies and considers him "the best president since Abraham Lincoln."

After becoming one of those 36 people chosen 'by hand' by the Republican leader to have a participation in the administration of entities such as the National Symphony Orchestra, the Washington National Opera, The Washington Ballet or the Society for the Performing Arts during Six consecutive years and no remuneration, the actor will be awarded at the White House this week with the National Medal of Arts, according to a statement published on the presidential website.

This recognition, which will be delivered by President Trump himself this Thursday, will be received by seven other personalities or entities apart from Brad Pitt's ex-father-in-law. As has been communicated in the aforementioned press release, as every year, there are two types of medals, those for the Arts and those for the Humanities.

Award

After being given a public office in March related to culture, Trump will present Voight with a National Medal of Arts

In the case of the former, the winners include Jon Voight, who has been chosen for “his exceptional ability to play deeply complex characters” in films such as Midnight Cowboy and The Return; country and bluegrass singer Alison Krauss, who has been selected “for making extraordinary contributions to American music,” and the United States Armed Forces band of musicians, who will be honored “for personifying excellence in music and the service to the country ”. As you can see, all these winners represent the patriotic spirit that the policies of the American president pursue.

For the Humanities Medals, the standout recipient is mystery writer James Patterson, "one of the most successful American authors of our time." Patterson wrote in 2016 an investigative work in the form of a book on Jeffrey Epstein, the businessman around whom a whole plot of child trafficking and sexual abuse revolves that has splashed on Prince Andrew of England. In fact, this book also includes several references to the business relationship that may have existed between Trump and Epstein, something that is paradoxical considering who awarded the award.

Winners

All Medal of the Arts winners symbolize the patriotic spirit for which Trump fights with his policies

Since his arrival to the presidency, the Republican leader has had a rather tense relationship with many figures in the arts and humanities of the country, who on dozens of occasions have used their voices to denounce his more radical policies. Due to this malaise, on many occasions Trump has preferred to skip some of the great national celebrations of culture such as the annual gala of the John F. Kennedy Center, which had been one of the main social gatherings in Washington during the terms of other leaders such as Barack Obama.

Although there may be more artists who do not support Trump than those who do, the fact that he is in a privileged position means that he does not even need to like him. Because it is he who has the power over much of the public organs, personalities like Jon Voight, who continues to "captivate audiences and give ideas about the richness of the human mind and heart" according to the president, are the ones who receive the public recognitions and those that end up sitting on the administrative councils of the entities that manage culture.
