Meghan Markle admitted she lied to get a role in Hollywood
Before becoming famous for her starring role in "Suits," the Californian auditioned for a pilot for a show called "Century City," but ultimately didn't get the job.
A video of Meghan Markle calling herself a "fraud" for apparently lying to casting directors for a role early in her career resurfaced on social media. The material is known amid rumors that the American will return to the screens after the resignation of the Dukes of Sussex from the royal family.
The clip, which is part of a promotional appearance Meghan made for the television series Suits, shows the Duchess confessing that she told audition directors that she was in the actors' union when she never was.
The host asks the panel what role their first card from the Screen Actors Guild, a union in the United States representing more than 100,000 actors, had given them.
In the video, Prince Harry's wife, who may be looking to return to Hollywood, admits to having pretended she was in the Actors Guild auditioning for a small part in a show called Century City, a 2004 CBS show. Casting directors asked Meghan if she was part of the union, she said, "Of course she was." And then, laughing, she added: "I was a great fraud."
In 2011 the Duchess of Sussex got a job on the American legal drama Suits, with the character Rachel Zane and in which she participated for six years, but left her acting career when she began dating Prince Harry. In November 2017 they got engaged, in May 2018 they were married in Windsor, and a year later they became Archie's parents.
Meghan and Prince Harry, with their eight-month-old son Archie, have already started their new lives in Canada following their departure as high-ranking members of the Crown. The 38-year-old Duchess was pictured driving her own vehicle on the way to the airport and taking a walk with her son and their dogs in a public park on Vancouver Island.
The agreement reached to seal the separation from the royal family stripped the royal couple of public funds and required them to reimburse some $ 3.1 million used to renovate their residence on the grounds of Windsor Castle, where they lived. only eight months. Harry was also forced to renounce his military ranks and awards earned from two missions to Afghanistan with the British Army.
Nonetheless, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have the potential to raise tens of millions of dollars annually. The abdication agreement with Her Majesty allows them complete and absolute freedom to sign contracts with Silicon Valley giants like Apple and Netflix or with America's top-rated television networks.
