Donald & Melania Trump's marriage has been on the brink for a long time, according to the US media. And yet we can learn from them. And how you don't behave in a partnership.
Donald Trump and Melania Trump get divorced? Who knows. It is not yet clear what will happen in the next few months. We don't even know if Donald Trump might end up in jail after his term ends. But what we do know is that Melania and Donald's marriage is said to be very difficult. Again and again there is speculation that there is a crisis between the two. Disturbing photos and videos only reinforce these rumors.
Surely none of us want to have such a marriage. Nevertheless, we can learn a lot from both of them. Namely: We'd better not lead a partnership.
1. Melania & Donald: Lots of love
Love should already exist in a marriage, at least that's how we old-fashioned people think. Melania and Donald apparently see it differently. When Melania was asked by a CNN reporter in 2018 if she loved her husband, she responded in such an awkward way that we all shudder. She said "Yes, we are fine." Real love expressions look different, Melania.
2. Melania & Donald: No intrigues!
There is a lot of speculation at the moment whether Melania is already planning to move out of the White House. Now that she knows that Donald won't be President of the United States again, she seems to see few reasons to stay with him. At least that's how the US media report.
An ex-adviser of the two even announced that Melania could face punishment from Donald if she left the White House before he leaves office. Nobody wants to see so much horror and mutual disrespect in a marriage. “If Melania were to try to pull the ultimate humiliation and leave while he's in office, he would find a way to punish her. '
3. Melania & Donald: Nobody needs power imbalances
Donald Trump is what is called the "old school" in this country. And I don't mean that in a positive way. The guy is as old-fashioned and conservative as few other men. Back in 1988, during an interview with Oprah Wifrey, it came out what Donald Trump really thinks of women. At that time he was still married to Ivana Trump.
"We don't argue very much because Ivana always does exactly what I tell her." It's not a very good basis for a marriage, Donald. Instead of looking for spouses on an equal footing, Trump seems to want a certain power imbalance in the relationship.
Melania is different from the others
Something has changed with Melania. The still-first-lady has her own mind, her own projects and her own fans. Perhaps that's why their marriage is doomed to fail. We remain curious whether Donald and Melania can pull themselves together, or whether they will soon part ways.
Melania still officially stands by her husband. There are signs here that the two are becoming similarly manic.
