Meghan Markle makes her debut as a businesswoman: her investment in a vegan, feminist and solidarity startup
Through a statement, the Duchess announced her decision to invest in a company that produces instant coffees with oat milk, based near Montecito

This same Monday, just a few hours after she reappeared in a CNN special, we learned that the Duchess of Sussex has made her debut as a businesswoman. And it has done so by investing in a startup, that is, an emerging company. Clevr Blends, as it is called, seems to meet several requirements that have captured the attention of the exactriz to the point of wanting to contribute part of its capital. And, due to its characteristics, we can consider this feminist, supportive and vegan company, three adjectives that marry very well with Meghan's philosophy and the work she has been doing since she left the British Royal House. The company in question produces instant oat milk coffees, is based very close to Montecito, where Meghan Markle and Prince Harry now live, has six employees and, most importantly, was founded by a woman, Hannah Mendoza, one one of the reasons that most encouraged the Duchess of Sussex. It is, at least, what he makes clear in his statement, sent to the magazine 'Fortune', specialized in business: "This investment is in support of a passionate entrepreneur who prioritizes building a community along with her business. I am proud to invest in Hannah's commitment to sourcing ethical ingredients and creating a product that I personally love and that takes a holistic approach to wellness. I believe in her and I believe in her company. " Meghan also highlighted in her writing her interest in supporting companies founded by women, which received only 2.7% of venture capital financing in 2019.
What has not been disclosed is the exact amount she has invested in this self-financed company so far. The money will be used to expand the business, which so far focuses on four types of instant coffees, a milk frother and a travel mug. But, in addition, the company has promised to donate 1% of its income to organizations in the United States that fight for food justice, also one of Meghan Markle's great concerns and to which she referred in her message for the special of CNN. Although it is the first time that the Duchess of Sussex has invested in the private sector - or at least, the first that has had importance -, it is not the first that she flirts with private companies. Although Meghan and Harry promote their charity work much more, we must not forget that only a few months ago they signed a millionaire contract with Netflix. There was no communication or much information about it at the time, quite the opposite of what has happened with this investment, which has been announced on time.
