Melania Trump presented last Saturday the renovated Rose Garden (garden of roses) of the White House, a transformation that the first lady saw essential because her husband has moved his press conferences to that outer space as a precaution against the coronavirus. The original garden had been commissioned by President John F. Kennedy in 1961, and was designed by gardener Rachel Lambert Mellon and Jacqueline Kennedy. It was made up of a colorful variety of roses and large trees, where the wild apple trees stood out and the entire garden is covered with grass. Melania has chosen to relax the color gamut to white and softer colors, removing the apple trees and including limestone walkways around a clear central lawn area.

The choice of the first lady's roses for the garden has not been random, since among them is the variety 'Hybrid Tea Rose', also known as 'Rose JFK'; the Rosa de la Paz variety; and the other, the Rosa Pope John Paul II, to remember the first time a Pope visited the White House in 1979. “Excited to honor history and celebrate the future in our beautiful rose garden tonight. Thank you to all who helped to renovate this iconic and truly beautiful space ”, has tweeted the FLOTUS (First Lady of the United States, according to its acronym in English) from its official account.
The images of the renovation of the space have generated a barrage of criticism among Internet users. Some think that Melania has loaded the joy and has turned it into a sterile and insipid place, which they have compared as a metaphor to the Trump presidency.
