All the dogs (and a cat) of American presidents
With Joe Biden the German shepherds Major and Champ also arrive at the White House: it is the return of the dogs to the presidential residence. Aside from Trump, every president has had one. here are the pictures
With the arrival of Joe Biden, dogs are also returning to the White House, and they are the protagonists: Biden brings with him to Washington the first adopted dog that has ever crossed the threshold of the presidential house. This is Major, a German shepherd taken from a kennel in 2018, to keep company with Champ, the other German shepherd who has lived with the president and First Lady Jill Biden since 2008.
Major's arrival was greeted with an "Indoguration" ceremony on Zoom organized by Pumpkin Pet Insurance and the Delaware Humane Association (Dha) of Wilmington, the association that manages the shelter where he had arrived, very ill, before Joe and Jill Biden welcomed him into the house.

The President and the First Lady have always been great animal lovers (also for this reason they were supported in the election campaign by animal rights activists and associations that manage shelters), and this also means that their arrival in Washington will allow them to continue a long tradition, interrupted only from Donald Trump.
Apart from him, who did not even want a goldfish in the White House, there was no president who did not welcome at least one dog (sometimes even a cat). Perhaps because, as Harry Truman once said, "If you want a friend in Washington you must have one."
Reagan had six, Clinton never separated from Buddy, the Labrador Retriever who seems to have made peace with Hillary after the Monica Lewinsky case, Obama loved Bo and Sunny. In the gallery above you will find some historical photos of the presidents and their dogs
