Tiffany Trump's "gay friends" speech is viral (no, not as positive as Pope Francis's)
It's not easy to be the eternal number two, especially when your dad blatantly flaunts a cheeky preference for your (always flawless) older stepsister. Tiffany Trump tries to attract attention and on every birthday of her and on every of her Father's Day she punctually publishes on her feed from a million followers a souvenir photo of dad Donald's proud daughter.
He, however, nothing: he only has eyes for Ivanka, he forgets to wish her good wishes, he keeps her in the back (at the inauguration ceremony at the White House he granted her a miserable third row, ed) and treats her as a first daughter of series b. So, since her childhood spent in California away from Trump Tower and the spotlight, Tiffany has become accustomed to semi-anonymity and while Ivanka and Melania plow through the pages of magazines every other day, little or nothing is known about her.
Beware, however, things may be slowly changing and this is not necessarily a good thing. In fact, we saw her talk about her at the republican convention and her latest speech on behalf of the LGBT + community (just in the hours when Pope Francis expressed his epochal acceptance of homosexual couples) has recently gone viral. Yes, but not in a good way.
"The most embarrassing thing of the week", "The worst speech you've ever seen", "It starts badly and continues even worse". These are just some (and among the kindest) of the comments that users on Twitter have reserved for the latest performance of the young Trump. The speech was in fact an announced disaster given that the event in question was Tampa's "Trump Pride" and the name already speaks volumes given that relations between the president and the LGBT + community have never been completely peaceful.
The audience was almost empty (the detractors speak of a dozen people) but Tiffany did it all: trying to overcome the nervousness (after all, no one got used to public speeches), she takes the stage with her dress rosa, seems undecided, sketches a dance to the notes of I Got a Feeling, then, embarrassed, blows a kiss. The slips, however, came after her, when the 27-year-old tried to convince the public (and perhaps herself) of how her father "always supported" the LGBT + community even before entering politics.
You know the classic "I'm not homophobic, I have lots of gay friends"? Here, Tiffany's speech more or less followed that line. "I have friends who contact me and make up stories," she tells her, "They tell me, 'How can you support your father? We know you. We know your best friends are gay.'"
"It's because my father has always supported you all," she concludes. Indeed, Donald Trump has often tried to attract support from the LGBT + world: he was the first Republican candidate to mention the community in his acceptance speech and, a month after his election, he said he was "determined to protect the rights of all Americans, including the LGBTQ community. " Too bad, however, that, looking at the facts, things are different, just think of the openly homophobic judges appointed by the president to the Supreme Court who could seriously endanger the rights obtained so far.
Then there is another question: in pronouncing the LGBTQIA acronym Tiffany wrapped herself up and twice she avoided pronouncing the "T" of "Trans". Coincidences? Hard to believe if we think that in 2018 the Donald Trump administration had proposed that an individual's gender be re-defined "on a clear biological basis, which is grounded in science and which is objective and manageable." In short, the attempt to make people proud the dad did not go quite as hoped. Of course, now the first daughter # 2 is on everyone's lips: for better or for worse as long as we talk about it? Who knows, maybe it also applies to Tiffany Trump.
