What’s next for Barron Trump? Melania Trump tours Florida prep school for his post-White House life

Touring Florida prep schools for 14-year-old Barron is one way that the first lady is reportedly preparing her family for life after Donald Trump leaves office.

Melania Trump is wasting no time getting her family ready to move to Florida, reportedly touring a posh prep school that her 14-year-old son, Barron, might attend — assuming her husband finally gives up his efforts to hold onto the White House after losing the Nov. 3 election.

Melania Trump recently toured Pine Crest School in Fort Lauderdale, about 40 minutes from Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Page Six reported. The school tour came as the first lady is reportedly packing up at the White House and working to get Mar-a-Lago ready to become the couple’s new permanent residence.

Pine Crest is a private school for grades pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. Tuition runs as high as $35,150 per year for the “upper school,” Page Six reported.

At Pine Crest, students are said to thrive in “an academically stimulating, supportive environment where they have the freedom to explore their academic and extracurricular interests on a deep level,” the school’s website said. Pine Crest also emphasizes “social emotional education” and promotes “a diverse environment” that celebrates “a range of cultures, backgrounds, talents, experiences, and opinions.” Distinguished alumni include Ariana Grande, Bethenny Frankel and Kelsey Grammer, Page Six added.

People magazine previously reported that Melania Trump has “looked all over Palm Beach County and neighboring Broward County for just the right place” for Barron to continue ninth grade after they move to Florida.

“There are several options, and they will decide soon,” a source told People. Barron currently attends St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in a suburban Maryland.

Melania Trump also has been overseeing renovations on the Trump’s 2,000-square-foot residence at Mar-a-Lago, an historic estate he purchased in the 1980s and turned into a private club.

“Donald’s apartment, which once belonged to Mar-a-Lago estate creator Marjorie Merriweather Post, will be expanded and spruced up,” a source close to the president told People.

“They are definitely renovating his apartment within the Mar-a-Lago Club to make it larger, more modern and comfortable for his use,” the source said. Melania Trump, though, has a separate bedroom in the residence, sources have told People.

Melania Trump reportedly understood shortly after Nov. 3 that her husband had lost the election. She was among a contingent in the president’s inner circle, who also included Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, who knew his fight for a second term was over, according to ABC and CNN

ABC White House correspondent Jonathan Karl reported on Nov. 8 that Melania Trump was among those who were trying to convince Trump to “make something of a graceful exit.”

But that hasn’t happened. Trump has refused to concede after Biden won with 306 electoral votes to Trump’s 232, even after every state certified its election results, the New York Times reported.

On Monday, the 538 members of the Electoral College have been meeting to cast ballots for president based on the election results in their states, formalizing former Vice President Joe Biden’s victory, the New York Times added.
