A statue in honor of Donald Trump made ... in Mexico
The golden statue of Donald Trump on display this weekend at the CPAC conference is causing a stir among supporters of the billionaire, a tribute that has been achieved quite paradoxically in Mexico, a country that has often drawn the ire of the former president.
Named “Trump and his Magic Wand,” the larger-than-life statue represents Donald Trump with a golden head, a suit top, shorts in the colors of the American flag and sandals on his feet.
“He's wearing a suit because he's a businessman. The red tie represents the Republican Party, the red, white and blue shorts represent the fact that he is a patriot, ”the artist behind the statue, Tommy Zegan, told the New York Post on Saturday.
The magic wand, meanwhile, refers to the help the former president would need to bring back US-based jobs, the artist added during his interview.
But in a rather unusual way given the Republican mandate, this statue, which is intended as a tribute to Trump, was made in Mexico.
“Zegan spent over six months making the 200 lb. fiberglass statue with the help of three men in Rosarito. He took it to Tampa, Florida, where it was painted chrome, and then transported it from there to CPAC [in Orlando], ”US media outlet Politico reported.
The statue is on sale for $ 100,000, the New York Post reported.
Donald Trump is expected at the conservative convention on Sunday to give his first speech since leaving the White House last January.
