After the Trump presidency, what future for Donald Jr, Ivanka, Eric and Tiffany Trump?
Donald Jr, Ivanka, Eric and Tiffany Trump all got involved in their father's re-election campaign. Once the latter's mandate is over, what will become of them?
Before Donald Trump's defeat, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner had already returned to New York. But the daughter of the American president and her husband, both advisers to the White House, had done so without their knowledge: the Lincoln Project, an organization of Republicans opposed to Donald Trump, had posted them in Times Square next to the balance sheet of deaths from Covid-19 for Ivanka Trump, and next to a quote for Jared Kushner.
"[New Yorkers] are going to suffer and that's their problem," it wrote next to a smiling photo of the 30-something. Yet both are New Yorkers who grew up in a golden setting that now rejects them. “The president has been so horrible and divisive about New York, saying it was a nightmare, that it's empty or has-been… No one here is going to forget that. Coming back after everything he said isn't going to do it, ”Jill Kargman, author and Upper East Side socialite, who once crossed paths with the couple, then registered as Democrats, told CNN at events. . It's hard to imagine the couple again frequenting the upscale circles they were integrated into in Manhattan, the Democratic stronghold where Joe Biden garnered 84.5% of the vote in the last election. The daughter of the American president, who had nevertheless rejected the idea of working for the administration of her father, seized on a diverse portfolio, ended up seizing on subjects which are close to her heart while making the a deaf ear to the controversies concerning Donald Trump, while her husband was entrusted with multiple major responsibilities without any previous government experience.
A silence and a complicity were little appreciated and which push the couple to imagine themselves living in New Jersey, where Jared Kushner was born, or in Florida, where Donald Trump himself resided last year, preferring Mar-a-Lago in New York. They could take up, with a little distance, the responsibilities they held before, within the Trump Organization for her, of Kushner Companies for him, the companies founded by their respective fathers and which they had at least partially managed before. the election of Donald Trump. They could claim an important diplomatic address book, especially for Jared Kushner, who has increased the number of trips and talks to the Middle East over the past four years. Ivanka Trump, who closed the ready-to-wear and accessories company that bore her name in 2018 after suffering a massive boycott campaign, has kept the associated copyrights. A time considered as a moderating influence on her father, Ivanka Trump now claims to be "totally MAGA" and convinced republican, sent during the campaign to seduce the female electorate marked by the multiple escapades of her father. But this in-between might not be enough to get into politics on her own.
Two investigations underway in New York
Especially since the situation could be tense: according to the "New York Times", two investigations were opened to shed light on tax deductions by the Trump Organization, which in particular deducted consulting fees ... returned to Ivanka Trump. The criminal investigation opened by prosecutor Cyrus Vance and civil proceedings initiated by New York Attorney General Letitia James are two examples of "outright harassment", denounced the young woman, echoing the rhetoric of her father. “This 'investigation' opened by Democrats in New York is 100% motivated by politics, the need for publicity and rage. They know very well that there is nothing underneath and that there has been no tax benefit in any way. These politicians are simply ruthless. ” The investigations, however, start from very real cases: Cyrus Vance wants to discover the role of the Trump Organization in the purchase of the silence of the actress X Stormy Daniels and Letitia James seized after the revelations of the former personal lawyer of the billionaire, Michael Cohen, according to whom Donald Trump lied about the real state of his finances to obtain credits.
Donald Trump Jr, very involved in his father's re-election campaign, could also get into politics. Big favorite of "Trumpist Republicans", he speaks to his father's most conservative electorate, sharing untruths and conspiracy theories, popular on social networks. If his contribution to the 2016 campaign was minimal - despite the organization of a meeting with a Russian lawyer close to the Kremlin and discussions on Twitter with Julian Assange -, Donald Trump Jr has this time placed on the front of the stage, as he, along with his younger brother Eric, had to step back to lead the Trump Organization in a way that avoids accusations of conflict of interest with the White House. He traveled the country, chaining meetings alongside his companion Kimberly Guilfoyle, former presenter of the conservative channel Fox News. The couple, according to CNN, intends to capitalize on their notoriety among the Republican electorate and take control of the party, accusing the current president Ronna McDaniel of insufficient involvement - and therefore the defeat of the outgoing president.
A Trump senator?
Another couple among the second Trump generation: Lara and Eric Trump. If the second is a relatively discreet support of his father, his wife has been very active. An early member of the re-election campaign team, Lara Trump presented “Real News Update,” an online show celebrating the program and achievements of Donald Trump and Mike Pence. She has participated in many meetings and would see herself well, according to the "New York Times", senator: the young woman would have in her sights the seat of Richard Burr, Republican who will not stand for re-election at the end of his term. in 2022. "She is very charismatic, she understands the politics of proximity well and she has a natural instinct for politics," said Mercedes Schlapp, a Trump campaign advisor. “In North Carolina, in particular, she is famous. She worked very hard for the campaign and was involved in a lot of decisions. ” North Carolina, his state of birth and which inspired the first name of their second child, Carolina, could therefore allow the election of a new Trump in the United States.
Finally, there is Tiffany Trump. The young woman, who moved to Washington in the summer of 2017 to study at the prestigious Georgetown law school, was discreet for three years. She took part in a few events such as the Christmas tree lighting or the State of the Union speech, but without commenting on the policies pursued by her father, enjoying the unconditional support of her mother, Marla throughout. Maples. Since this summer, the very young graduate has also embarked on the road to the countryside, participating in breakfasts called "Breakfast with Tiffany", a nod to the original title of "Diamonds on the sofa". If she has not yet unveiled her plans for the future, Donald Trump had an idea for her: "I just needed a lawyer in the family!" He tweeted with humor last May. But with the end of his presidential protection, the billionaire could well end up using the services of his daughter.
