Covid-19: Donald Trump's club, Mar-a-Lago, partially closed

UNITED STATES - Staff at Club Mar-a-Lago, where the former US president resides, have tested positive for Covid-19. Several services remain temporarily closed.

If the number of cases is on the decline across the Atlantic, the epidemic is not over for all that. And for proof. Donald Trump's club in Florida, Mar-a-Lago, has been partially closed after cases of Covid-19 among staff, US media reported. The former Republican President has resided in Mar-a-Lago since leaving the White House on January 20.

"As some of our staff have recently tested positive for Covid-19, we are temporarily suspending services at the Beach Club and the Dining Room," club management said in an email quoted by the Washington Post. The number of people infected was not specified.

Other services remain open in the club, according to management, according to which "all appropriate measures in accordance with the directives" of the federal health authorities have been taken to disinfect the premises. Palm Beach County sent the club a warning in January, after photos showed guests not wearing masks at a New Years party. The club is due to host events at the National Republican Party Committee (RNC) spring retreat in Florida next month, according to the New York Times.

Donald Trump had been infected with Covid-19 in early October and had been hospitalized for a few days. He and his wife Melania were secretly vaccinated in January. The United States remains the most bereaved country since the start of the pandemic, with more than 541,000 deaths linked to Covid-19, and nearly 30 million officially recorded cases.
