Does Oprah regret doing the interview with Prince Harry and Meghan?
PRINCE HARRY will "regret" speaking to Oprah Winfrey in a two-hour interview, according to the royal secretary.
The much-anticipated interview of Prince Harry with Meghan Markle and Oprah will be played in a few hours in the United States and on Monday evening in the UK. This first joint sitting interview from Megxit looks set to touch on a number of topics - including Sussex's reasons for ceasing to be a top royal and its relationship with Firm.
The royal scholar said that, while Meghan and Harry felt satisfied with their decision to speak, the Emperor may eventually regret speaking to Oprah.
Royal correspondent Penny Junor wrote in the Daily Mail: "My guess is that, like Diana all these years, Harry and Meghan will feel happy to hit their chat with Oprah, who will be playing in America tonight and in the UK tomorrow.
"Although she may not be as happy as Oprah, she has been a masterpiece for life.
"But I suspect that one day Harry will regret it, as Diana did."
Last year, royal expert Jennie Bond said she thought Diana had already regretted some of the words she had used in the Panorama speech, including that she wanted to be the Queen of People's Hearts.
The Panorama interview had long-lasting results, as it prompted the Queen to congratulate the Prince and Princess of Wales for a divorce, which was finalized the following year in 1996.
Ms Junor added that the Governor of Sussex had served the country and the Crown as an on-duty soldier and as a working queen.
Therefore, the discussion "looks like a big betrayal", said the expert.
He explained: "As a former soldier, dedicated to placing an obligation and loyalty to the Queen and to the country above all else, this looks like a great betrayal.
"Betrayal that will fall directly into the hands of those who would like to see the Kingdom abolished.
"It hurts Harry a lot, too. To him the monarchy is not a strange thing, outdated, as it is for millions of Americans who look forward to today's revelation.
"For Harry, royalty is a family.
"While Meghan does not feel that she has any loyalty or family love, Harry once did that.
"He has always been a very popular son, grandson, brother and sister-in-law."
Ms Junor believes the Emperor and Duchess of Sussex chose to talk to Oprah 12 months after she officially resigned as royalty to find "acceptance and love in the world" and "fight".
CBS, an network that advertises interviews in the US, shared four tenders earlier this week setting the tone for the interview.
In one, Oprah asked Meghan how she felt knowing that the palace would see her speak her truth.
The Duchess responded: "I do not know how they would have expected that after all this time we would have remained silent if Firm played a role in furthering our lies.
"And if that comes with the risk of losing things, I mean, I ... there's a lot lost already."
In the first episode published by CBS, the Duchess were shown listening to Oprah asking her to be "quiet or muted".
In a separate section of the clip, his interlocutor appeared to comment on the Duchess' comment.
Oprah says: "It almost sounds like there will be no escape."
Prince Harry appeared in both of these teas and seems to be referring to Princess Diana when he says his main concern is "repetitive history."
Appearing comparisons between his departure from the throne and his mother in 1996, after his divorce from Prince Charles, he said:
"Because I can't begin to imagine what it was like for him, he did this process alone all those years ago.
"It was incredibly difficult for both of us, but at least we have each other."
