How Is Barron Trump's White House Life Different - And Same - Like Some Today's First Children

There has never been a first son living on 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue since Kennedy's administration - and no young 85-year-old boy

At first you swept the floor, not to mention that nothing unusual happened in the White House.

But that would not be entirely true. As was the case with the last administration, and many of them over the years, there is a child growing up on 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Eleven-year-old Barron Trump has been living there since June, the first young son since John F. Kennedy Jr. living there with his parents. But JFK Jr. he was born a few months before the family moved to the White House in January 1961, making Barron the first well-known boy to succeed him since Charles Taft II, who was 11 years old when his father, William Howard Taft, was elected President in 1908.

While that stored address comes with its own benefits (there is a swimming pool, a bowling alley, a theater and, since the Obamas arrived in town, a basketball court and vegetable garden), it will not be an easy transition for any child to move from to normal life everywhere. you go with an armed man and you can do whatever you want — even more than most kids.

And again, maybe that’s where Barron’s pre-2017 expansion comes into play. Growing up with a famous son in a thatched-roof house built by Trump Tower and being able to look modestly on camera from time to time may prepare Barron better than most early children for that famous but aggressive presence.

In this past century, all the sons were young enough to live in the White House even a little bit, like FDR's 17-year-old son John Aspinwall Roosevelt, was the youngest of his siblings. John Roosevelt's older brother James will later write that John "had a smooth, very unpleasant life for all of us."

"The youngest, he was very close to my father," James wrote.

"It's not always easy to be a member of the club you are going to join," said Barbara and Jenna Bush, who were 19 years old and in college when George W. Bush was elected, wrote to Malia and Sasha Obama in 2009. . "Remember who your father really is."

President Donald Trump did not give many anecdotes to the father of the children about Barron's childhood, but he also did not have any of his other four children. He really doesn't say anything other than to be proud of his fifth child, but, unlike other fathers who spend a lot of time with the newborn children in their lives because they retire or re-prioritize ...

Not an option here.

"Barron's fears," Trump told E! News in January 2015, six months before he announced his candidacy for the presidency, about his eight-year-old son at the time. "He's a good boy, he works hard, he starts school stuff - you know, the start of the process, and you're going to be a very good boy." Asked if Barron knew about his father's status as a celebrity, Trump replied, "I don't know what he knows, but he's a good little boy - so I hope he'll know soon enough."

The following year was a crash in which his father was more influential than Barron.

"I tell her: Take it every day, enjoy your life, live a meaningful life as I love to do," Melania Trump told Us Weekly in January 2016 as the race began to heat up. "... Of course, in those years, every child can be worried, especially if he loves school, if he loves friends, he doesn't want to lose that. It's all a new opportunity, and it brings new friends and new School. You never know, you never know what's going on. Enjoy every day, live life and don't worry. "

Then 10, Barron attended the 2016 campaign, the first wife of the future Melania Trump who made it clear that her education was a priority and most important for her to take care of Barron, but she went to the Republican National Convention again, right there with the whole family on election night.

And then, unlike the first kids who had come before him, he didn’t enter the White House right away. Instead, he and his mother settled in New York to spend a year at Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School.

They could have made a weekend trip to DC with their Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Fla., But otherwise they lived a private life in Manhattan.

The NYPD estimates it costs between $ 127,000 and $ 146,000 a day to protect New York's first wife and first son, including their ride to and from school on the Upper West Side.

And in New York, and often also in Mar-a-Lago, Barron's Slovenian grandparents, Viktor and Amalija Knavs, are officially citizens of the United States. The Washington Post reports that they are close to becoming U.S. citizens, as did Melania in 2006. Trump's in-laws have also been living in Washington, D.C., since Melania and Barron moved there last June.

So like Malia and Sasha Obama, their maternal grandmother, Marian Robinson, who lived as part of the first family in the White House under the two names of President Barack Obama, Barron finds the grandparents around him.

The Knavses have not spoken in public since their son-in-law was elected President, but Robinson's grandmother's feelings about being very close to her grandchildren translate.

"One of my greatest blessings is to see my grandchildren grow up before my eyes," she told Essence in 2012. "I go to all their school games and sports games; I will answer their questions, and any grandparents, I try to make myself hungry when their friends are around."

"What amazes me the most, however, is," he wrote, "that Barack still makes time for family meals almost every night. He still calls games from Sasha's basketball team. He talks to the girls in their days, helping them with their homework, laughing and chatting with them every day."

Robinson also wrote that he enjoyed being there with his daughter, where he needed her. And as it happens, the opposite is true. "I wouldn't do it without you, Mom!" Michelle Obama gave Robinson a shout out at The Tonight Show in January 2017, just days before the inauguration.

The former prime minister also told people in late 2016, as the whole family was preparing to leave, that staying at the White House brings the family together.

“So until we got to the White House where we met seven days a week, where we had dinner together, he had time to train the girls’ teams and attend all their events, ”Michelle recalls.

"They're ready to go out, they're just out of their parents' house," former President Barack Obama said of his daughters. "The fact that their parents' house is the White House can add to this. But Malia is going to college. She's an older woman."

Malia was 10 and Sasha 7 when the Obamas moved to the White House in 2009.

"There is a feeling about this place, that they have a lot of amazing experiences, and the staff are part of the family," Obama said. "It's different for them than most kids because if they leave, they won't be able to go home. Malia is talked about in a way that she regrets not having that home in the same way."

Barron will spend the same amount of time in the White House, at least until he is 14, maybe 18 years old.

Like Chelsea Clinton, who was 12 when Bill Clinton was elected President, Malia and Sasha attended Sidwell Friends School in Bethesda, Md .; Sasha is not expected to graduate until next year, which is why Obamas' decision soon to stay in Washington. They live in the same area as Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, and other political figures.

Barron Trump, in the middle of sixth grade at St Andrew's Episcopal School in Potomac, Md., And his vision is very small.

She attended the annual Easter Egg Roll for children at the White House last April. Glasses all the time, watching the eclipse last August from the balcony with her parents.

He was recently photographed at the annual Turkish pardon ceremony and at the launch of the White House Christmas tree in November.

"On behalf of Melania, I, Barron, all my children, all my grandchildren - are here with us tonight - I want to thank you, God bless you, and God bless the United States of America. Thank you very much, a Merry Christmas, everyone," said President Trump. at the National Christmas tree lighting event on November 30.

For the most part, though, Melania is sticking to her promise to keep Barron out of trouble, and she is no longer in the public eye. While the common consensus among non-trolls is to save criticism of the president and not children, especially very young children, Barron - like Chelsea, like Bush twins and like Malia and Sasha - has been the victim of enough online nonsense to make any mother aware.

"It is a long tradition that the children of the President should be given the opportunity to grow up without political interference," the White House news office said in a statement a few days after Trump's inauguration. "The White House fully expects this tradition to continue. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter."

Chelsea Clinton has defended it several times, and, in a tweet last April, "I have repeatedly and will continue to say that Barron should be given the right and place and the privacy of being a child." And in August, after the Daily Caller blogger criticized Barron's outfit for being too self-confident (Malia Obama's outfit was considered, too), Clinton wrote, "It's a good time now for the media & everyone to leave Barron Trump alone and let him have the childhood he deserves."

President Trump made history, however, while joking about the investigation of Russia's special lawyer and pleading with his 11-year-old son, writing on Twitter last year, "Jared Kushner did very well yesterday to prove he did not associate with the Russian people. Witch Hunt Next, year-old Barron Trump -11 years old! "

And unlike the Obamas and Clintons (and both the Bush and Reagan families ... in fact, all the first families in the last 130 years), the Trumps don't have a dog and, unless there are reptiles or fish we don't offer 'I know, there are no first pets.

But while Obama's daughters were the first children to live in the White House on Instagram, Barron Trump may be the first child to offer professional support to his parents.

"I have a son. He's ten years old. He has computers. He's so good with these computers, it's unbelievable," Trump volunteered in his first interview with Hillary Clinton. "The cyber security situation is very serious, and it may not be happening."

Like many fathers of a certain age, Trump was amazed at what his son already knew about computers, Barron's generation was probably born with a mobile phone. It is not clear what type of computer he will be able to access, given the amount of security involved and, oh, you probably don't want him to look all over the Internet ... but video games, movies, homework, sports and general activities among boys may keep him busy very much.

Barron also has a golf course - something a father and son do together, says Melania - and as a child he painted.

"He's a very strong-minded boy, very special and smart," the first woman told Parenting.com when Barron was 6 years old, happily describing her as "a full-time working mother."

"He's independent and has ideas and he knows exactly what he wants. Sometimes I call him little Donald. He's our combination of looks, but his personality is why I call him little Donald."

Melania Trump also said that her 1st secret to parenting was good listening skills.

“I listen to what he has to say, what he feels, and what he enjoys,” she explains. "Then I can guide and support. I do not push my thoughts or likes and dislikes. I want him to grow up to be his own person. I think it is important to give the child a place to make mistakes so that he can learn. Mistakes build wings so later in life they can fly and walk on their own. how to download them on your own if you are not there.

"Be their friend and parent again. If they are in trouble they will come to you first. Don't try to change their mind."

Most of the first kids are said to have made the White House their own in some way, whether it was Amy Carter playing in her specially built tree house or John Jr and Caroline Kennedy keeping a pony, Macaroni, in the yard. The Obamas, while having a unique relationship with the media as politicians who are often treated as celebrities, keep their private residence illegal. Barron made art in his childhood bedroom, painting cars and planes, and even a baking tray, on the walls, so it is possible that his bedroom in White House was deceived by his details.
