How many glasses of wine did Donald Trump drink to date?
Donald Trump is known to break his teetotalism when partaking in communion at church. Now, it seems, the UN is also an exception.
The president says he doesn't drink after his older brother Fred Jr died from chronic alcoholism at the age of 41.
But after leading a toast to the "great, great potential" of the United Nations after his speech to the General Assembly, he took a sip from his wine glass before handing it to an aide.
He later took another sip after raising his glass to UN Secretary General António Gutteres.
Whether it was actually became a talking point among the watching media.
"Is that wine or Diet Coke for Trump?" asked NPR lead politics editor Domenico Montanaro.
Bloomberg White House correspondent Jennifer Jacobs cautiously called it "maroon liquid" while Fox News correspondent Ellison Barber said it "seems to be wine".
Others wondered whether it was grape juice.
Mr Trump has long cited his brother's alcoholism for his teetotalism.
“He would tell me constantly, ‘Don't drink,’” Mr Trump said in a “60 Minutes” interview two years ago.
“And I've never had a drink. I own the largest winery on the East Coast and yet I don't drink, which is a little weird. But he said, ‘Don't drink. Don't smoke.’ And he would tell me all the time.”
He has, however, said he makes an exception when taking communion.
When asked at a 2015 Family Leadership Summit if he ever asks for forgiveness, he said: “When we go in church and I drink the little wine, which is about the only wine I drink, and I eat the little cracker."
