Meghan Markle pays tribute to Lady Diana by wearing one of her jewels
On October 25, 2018, during a dinner in Tonga, the Duchess sported a ring that had belonged to Diana. A way to pay tribute to her mother-in-law she never knew.
On the tenth day of their royal tour of Oceania, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived in the Kingdom of Tonga. A reception and dinner were planned at the consulate for the occasion.
For this first evening in the company of King Tupou VI and Queen Nanasipau'u, Meghan Markle bet on an elegant immaculate white dress from the Irish brand Theia, accessorized with a jewel that has not gone unnoticed. Indeed, the ring she wore on her right hand had belonged to Lady Diana, Prince Harry's mother.
An inherited jewel
This aquamarine ring, surrounded by solitaire diamonds and set on a yellow gold ring, was allegedly given to him by Prince Harry, having inherited it from his mother, Princess Diana. According to the British daily Mirror, the jewel was given to Diana by a friend on the day her divorce from Prince Charles was pronounced.
Meghan Markle had already worn it for the first time at her wedding reception on May 19.
Tribute in the details
But this is not the first time that she has paid tribute to her late mother-in-law on this official trip. The day after her pregnancy announcement, Meghan Markel appeared in Sydney with a pair of butterfly earrings, which also belonged to Princess Diana.
