Angelina Jolie accuses Brad Pitt of not paying child support
Brad Pitt would not have paid any "significant" alimony to provide for the needs of his six children for a year and a half, denounces Angelina Jolie through the voice of his lawyers in a document submitted to the American justice. The actress is asking the court to look into the financial aspect of the two stars' divorce proceedings and may seek retroactive support.
New episode in the legal battle between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. The actress has appealed to the United States to recover the alimony that her ex-husband has not paid since their separation.
In a document sent to court on Tuesday, August 7, and obtained by NBC News, she claims that the Fight Club hero has not paid any "significant" sum for their six children (Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne), aged 10 to 17.
Divorce proceedings launched in September 2016
Brad Pitt has "a duty to pay alimony," writes Samantha Bley DeJean, Angelina Jolie's lawyer, in the two-page text. "Since informal agreements regarding child-related expenses have not been honored (by Brad Pitt), (Angelina Jolie) intends to ask the court to order the payment of retroactive child support," she adds.
The defense of the actress of the Tomb Raider saga wants to be heard by a judge on the financial side of the divorce proceedings between the two stars. The latter began in September 2016, when the 43-year-old actress filed an official request for divorce because of "irreconcilable differences".
