Brad Pitt and that declaration of love to Leonardo DiCaprio
With a joke about Titanic, Brad Pitt told the world how he feels about Leonardo DiCaprio
A couple was born. Of friends. Colleagues. Of "partner in cirme", as one of the two defined it.
Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio were the revelation of 2019. And this new year could only open in the best way.
Brad Pitt: Why did Leonardo yes and Jennifer Aniston no?
Because while he was collecting the award for Best Supporting Actor in Once Upon a Time in ... Hollywood at the Golden Globes 2020, Brad Pitt's most sincere and funny thanks was for Leonardo DiCaprio.
A few words. Escaped to most. But that tells of a harmony shown on the screen and also brought out in real life.
After thanking his "partner in crime", calling him "a great actor and a true gentleman", Brad Pitt once again turned to Leonardo DiCaprio.
Or LDC, as he nicknamed it, saying: "Still, I would’ ve shared the raft ". That is: "Anyway, I would have shared the raft with you." A full-blown declaration of fraternal love.
That Titanic scene
The reference, clear if not immediate, is for the final scene of Titanic. Dove Rose, played by Kate Winslet, is saved because she floats above a ship's debris. While poor Jack-Leonardo sinks into the icy depths of the ocean.
Could Jack have been saved? Could Rose have made room for him on the raft? These are the questions that have animated the debate around Titanic since that distant 1997.
The discussion was back in vogue during the Once Upon a Time promotional tour in ... Hollywood. Do you remember? We told you about it here.
Amidst the general laughter of Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie, Leonardo DiCaprio had not wanted to answer. After all, why reveal the magic of a film that has brought him fame, wealth. It is a special friendship with Kate Winslet.
Brad & Leo: story of a special relationship
Brad Pitt's joke on the Golden Globe stage (along with the sensational troll: "Before The Revenant, year after year, I watched the actors nominated with him collect awards, get up and thank him heartily"), was not impromptu.
But he underlined the deep understanding the two discovered they had on the set of Quentin Tarantino's film. It was the first time they acted together.
Yet they have known each other since the 1990s. They took their first steps together, as they both have remembered in recent months. They became famous with two very different paths.
But they have reached the top and do not want to know about going down. This is why they are the new Hollywood couple.
