DONALD TRUMP WANTS ONE OF THE COVID-19 VACCINES NAMED TRUMPCINE, IN HIS HONOR

After several weeks of silence, former US President Donald Trump is talking about him again with a rather singular statement: he wants one of the vaccines against Covid-19 to be named "Trumpcine".

After his defeat to Joe Biden in the presidential election, and after Twitter permanently excluded him from its platform during the handover on January 20, Donald Trump was very discreet.

On Saturday April 10, the former US president came out of the shadows, giving a speech to supporters and members of the Republican Party, of which he still wants to be the leader. From his residence in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, Donald Trump boasted of being behind the development of a vaccine against Covid-19. As such, he wants this vaccine to be named "Trumpcine", in his honor.

The Washington Post reports the strongest words of the 45th President of the United States, who returned once again to his old controversies, repeating the same words and the same attacks. While he did not say a word about the 500,000 Americans who died from the coronavirus, he praised his handling of the pandemic - although it was deemed largely inefficient, if not nonexistent - by American citizens.

In fact, the mass vaccination campaign implemented across the Atlantic only began under the mandate of Joe Biden. For long and fatal months, Donald Trump did not wish to react to this pandemic, the seriousness of which he did not want to recognize.

Following his speech, the former president also attacked his former vice president, Mike Pence, who allegedly “lacked courage” when he failed to support the president in his allegations of electoral fraud. He also did not hesitate to insult Kentucky Senator Mitch McKonnel and Doctor Fauci, guilty of having contradicted him or of not being loyal enough.

Finally, Donald Trump assured members of the Republican Party that he would help them win new seats in the 2022 congressional election. Since the impeachment process has not been completed, nothing prevents the former president to seek new electoral mandates. He did not, however, speak of his possible return to the 2024 presidential race, although he had admitted to having this ambition a few months before.
