KATE MIDDLETON, AN EXAMPLE OF ELEGANCE IN MORNING: RECYCLED DRESS, HEADED WITH REDECILLA AND A NECKLACE OF PEARLS IN TRIBUTE TO THE DUKE
The Duchess of Cambridge has chosen for such a special day as this Saturday a jewel full of meaning.
Kate Middleton dressed in black this Saturday to attend the Duke of Edinburgh's funeral at Windsor Castle. A sober style as required by the moment and the protocol. She has worn a long coat with a large bow instead of lapels and buttons over a dress with an asymmetric neckline by French designer Roland Mouret that she wore to attend the 2018 Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall in London. She has combined her garments with a headdress with a net that slightly covers her gaze and at the back she can see an elaborate low bow. With black high-heeled pumps, stockings and a black mask, she has driven from London with Prince William to Windsor to say goodbye to the Prince of Edinburgh.
In rigorous black she has dressed the Duchess with one exception and for a more than justified reason: the significant pearl necklace. To match some Bahraini pearl earrings, which were a wedding gift to Elizabeth II, she made this four-loop choker with a diamond clasp in the center. It was commissioned by the monarch herself, and pearls that the Japanese government had given her were used to make it.
The queen wore it on a number of occasions during the 1980s and 1990s, including Diana of Wales once wore it to a state banquet in 1982, the year William and the now Duchess of Cambridge and future Queen Consort were born.
This is the second time that Kate Middleton has chosen this pearl necklace. She wore it in November 2017 for Queen Elizabeth and the late Duke of Edinburgh's platinum wedding celebration dinner. Without a doubt, Kate's tribute to Prince William's late grandfather.
