PRINCE HARRY SAYS LEAVING THE ROYAL FAMILY DUE TO 'TOXICITY' FROM THE BRITISH PRESS

The prince answered questions from host James Corden about his departure from the royal family, The Crown series, and Archie.

Prince Harry revealed this Thursday in a filmed segment of James Corden's Late Late Show that he had chosen to leave the royal family because of the "toxicity" of the British press, which "was destroying" his health mental. "I did not run away," he says.

"It was a very difficult environment, as a lot of people saw it, I believe. We all know how the British press behaves. And it was destroying my sanity. It was toxic. So j did what any husband and father would - I got my family out of there. But I never ran away. I will always be of service to others - it's my life - so whatever where I am in the world, I will always do the same. "

Installed since last April in California, Harry has reconverted in the entertainment industry and he signed with his wife Meghan juicy contracts with Netflix and Spotify. The rupture is definitively recorded between the prince and the British royal family: the palace of Buckingham announced last Friday that the couple lost their last titles, after having confirmed their final withdrawal from the "firm".

Harry and Meghan dropped a bombshell last year by announcing their withdrawal from their obligations, explaining it by their desire to lead a life independent of royalty, including financially. Effective on March 31, this decision was to be reviewed after one year. But Queen Elizabeth did not wait for this deadline to announce her decision, which hits Prince Harry particularly hard, very attached to his military titles after serving in Afghanistan.

"Much more at ease" with The Crown

Prince Harry also comments in his interview with James Corden on the series The Crown, which tells the life of his grandmother Elizabeth II. "They do not claim to tell the truth. It is fiction. But it is inspired very freely from the truth", indicates the prince.

"Of course it's not precise, but it gives you a good idea of the lifestyle and the pressures that go with it," he adds, before concluding: "I'm much more comfortable with it. The Crown than with the stories about my family, my wife and me that I see circulating (in the press), because (...) certain press articles are presented as truth. "

The prince's statement on The Crown is quite tasty. We remember that last November, fearing that viewers would take at face value what they see in the series, the British government asked Netflix to add a warning, to warn that it is indeed a 'a fiction. What the streaming platform had refused.

Another nugget of this interview, marked by a surprise appearance by Meghan Markle and a visit to the house of the Prince of Bel Air: we discover the gift of Queen Elizabeth II to Archie for Christmas. "My grandmother asked us what Archie wanted for Christmas," Harry clarified. "And Meg said a waffle maker. And she sent us a waffle maker!"
