Queen Elizabeth makes irony about Donald Trump
In politics, the British Constitution requires the queen to remain neutral. For this reason, the recent controversy of the sovereign in front of the cameras against the American president is even more surprising.
According to friends and relatives, the queen is gifted with an exceptional sense of humor. However, until now, the general public has rarely had the pleasure of laughing at her jokes. Especially in terms of politics! While the British Constitution calls for restraint on this level, Elizabeth II recently indulged in a stinging remark about the American president in front of the cameras.
During a documentary entitled "The Queen's Green Planet," the queen (91) took Sir David Attenborough, a TV legend and longtime friend of her, to visit the private garden of Buckingham Palace. While they were discussing botany, the roar of a helicopter suddenly interrupted the conversation. "Why do they always make so much noise while we speak?", The monarch was angry, adding: "It looks like President Trump."
The allusion would therefore be directed rather against Trump's predecessor, Barack Obama (56). In 2011, in fact, the former US president had provoked the anger of the sovereign, in love with nature, by destroying with the fleet of helicopters a lawn planted 300 years before her. During the US president's next visit five years later, Elizabeth insisted that only three helicopters land in the grounds of Windsor Castle.
"The queen rarely imposes her will on her, but when she does, she just has to go straight," sources close to the royal family had revealed at the time. Let's hope Donald Trump knows, even if his first visit to Buckingham Palace is not yet planned.
