Brad Pitt wins against Angelina Jolie, he obtains shared custody of the children
While the actress claimed sole custody of her children with Brad Pitt, the divorce judge decided to grant joint custody.
A setback for Angelina Jolie. The Californian judge in charge of the divorce proceedings between the American comedians, granted Brad Pitt joint custody of Pax Thien, Zahara Marley, Shiloh Nouvel and the twins Knox Léon and Vivienne Marcheline. The actress claimed sole custody.
The decision, rendered by retired judge John Ouderkirk, who officiates in a private setting and not in a court, validates the principle of equal custody, according to the TMZ news site.
Soon five years of proceedings
It comes nearly five years after Angelina Jolie (46 years old today) filed for divorce in September 2016. The actress took legal action to obtain the dismissal of the judge in the case, a procedure still ongoing .
This decision concerns five of the former couple's six children. Maddox Jolie-Pitt (19) is now major, he can challenge it in civil justice.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have not been officially married since April 2019, but have not yet resolved the issue of sharing their property. In 2018, the two stars had reached a temporary agreement for shared custody of their children, under terms that remained confidential, but had not managed to agree on a permanent formula.
