Andrew and Harry, “black sheep” in the eyes of Prince Philip
British royalty expert reveals Prince Philip has been shocked in recent years by the behavior of his grandson Harry and son Andrew.
A real conflict of generations. Prince Philip, since the beginning of August at Balmoral with Queen Elizabeth II, would have many concerns to manage, as evidenced by Ingrid Seward, an expert on British royalty. In a column for the Daily Mail, the expert says Andrew and Harry are seen by the Duke of Edinburgh as the "black sheep" of the family. For him, his grandson Harry failed in his duty by leaving his family to start a new life in the United States, while he, Prince Philip, developed a strong sense of duty from childhood.
A value that younger members of the royal family don't seem to have. Still concerning Prince Harry, Prince Philip is having a hard time understanding what prompted his grandson to abandon his homeland. For him, Meghan Markle's husband had it all: a beautiful home, a healthy son and a unique opportunity to make a global impact with their association. For him, the scenario is repeating itself. Indeed, he draws a parallel with Edward VIII who had abandoned his crown by marrying Wallis Simpson in 1937.
His son tarnished the reputation of the monarchy
Another member of the royal family has disappointed Prince Philip greatly: it is Prince Andrew, at the heart of a scandal over his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein. And yet his father had warned him: beware of billionaires who might use him to raise their own status. Andrew let himself be seduced by the rich and powerful whose only interest was his title. For the enraged Prince Philip, his son tarnished the reputation of the monarchy, and he had also gotten involved in something extremely unpleasant. Prince Philip was also deeply saddened by the failure of the marriage of his beloved eldest grandson, Peter Phillips, whom he nevertheless regards with far more benevolence than when it comes to Prince Andrew and Harry.
