In the documentary that Blood Ties has dedicated to the Windsor family we have been able to see many of the issues that have caused controversy in recent years, such as the death of Lady Di or the departure of the Dukes of Sussex from the British royal family. But we have also been able to delve into family disputes and we have been able to closely analyze the differences and few similarities between the fashionable duchesses: Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle.
Very different origins
Although neither of them belonged to royalty, their ways of life have been very different. While Meghan was born into a family with financial problems and difficulties making ends meet, Kate grew up in a family with a high economic level. The Middleton family owes their money to the company they founded, a stroke of luck that has allowed them to live comfortably.
Very disparate professions
"Kate was raised to be queen," so the media say. But far from studying about it, before she became the Duchess of Cambridge she graduated in Art History from the University of St. Andrews, where she met Prince William. Something very different chose Meghan, who studied Theater and International Relations at the University of Illinois.
Something they share with Lady Di
Both are women of solidarity and have shown it in the many humanitarian events they have attended. Something that seems to be essential to conquer the princes of England and more with a mother like Lady Di, who gave herself to her people.
Different styles
Kate is elegant, understated, simple, everything the crown would want her to be. It is impossible not to highlight her beauty, her 1.75m tall, her brown hair and her green eyes would captivate anyone, but if we analyzed the person by the clothes she wears we would say that Kate is a quiet, reserved person, capable of being a step behind if the protocol establishes it, but also to step forward if necessary.
Meghan's style is more modern, daring, without rules or impositions. She has an exotic beauty, wavy hair and a revealing smile that has won the British people from the start. However, she has a very different style than Kate. Short dresses, with the shoulders exposed, skipping the protocol, following her criteria and always with a star halo from her previous stages as an actress.
Kate's rejection of Meghan
Perhaps these discrepancies have nothing to do with the problems between them, but it is true that the way of seeing life and its obligations to the royal family are totally different. From the beginning of Harry's relationship with Meghan, both William and Kate advised him to "go slow with the actress." A piece of advice that Lady Di's youngest son didn't seem to follow as he got engaged to Meghan before they were one year old as a couple. From that moment on, the relationship between Harry and William and Kate cooled down, something that became more evident after Meghan's entry into the family.
Kate and Meghan did not hit it off despite their attempts to establish a friendship and the press has not helped by increasing rumors and fomenting disputes. Every day some new information is revealed that made the duchesses argue, such as the well-known confrontation between the two over the stockings of the ladies of honor at Meghan's wedding. Kate wanted to follow protocol and for the girls to wear stockings, and Meghan defended the opposite, explaining the heat it would be for them to put them on in mid-May. Little nonsense that can be a great confrontation and that, above all, battle after battle can cause a great war.
