What did Paul O'Grady say about Meghan Markle?
The beloved Kent star might have the answer to those Royal family tensions
Paul O'Grady said Meghan Markle should "become a horsewoman" in order to befriend the Queen.
The Aldington animal-whisperer knows "the family loves horses" and that animals are "what the Queen likes talking about", suggesting it might be a path for Meghan to build bridges.
Paul has crossed paths with the Royals before, recently sharing his memory of meeting Prince Philip for the first time when acting as alter ego, drag queen Lily Savage.
The Duke of Edinburgh died peacefully last Friday at the age of 99.
Meghan Markle has had a turbulent relationship with The Crown since marrying Prince Harry in 2018.
Earlier this year, the Duchess of Sussex gave a candid interview to Oprah talking about her relationship with the family, racism and much more.
It has caused a divide and the Duchess may be referring back to Paul O'Grady's 2018 advice to patch things up.
The For the Love of Dogs presenter wrote a column of advice in the TV Times after the couple's 2018 wedding.
Paul claimed the Queen was "easy to get on with" and admitted she "likes a good laugh".
The presenter advised Meghan "to be totally honest with her" as the Head of State was a "straight-talking" person.
Whether or not Meghan read Paul's advice, she seems to have certainly done that.
'Avoid Americanisms'
The dog-lover also explained that Meghan should “try to avoid too many Americanisms” and that non-UK words could cause a divide between them.
He wrote: “Always remember to say ‘lavatory’, not ‘bathroom’, otherwise you will really rile her!”
Speaking from knowledge, Paul spent time with the Royal Family during his drag career.
In 2004 he was presenting the Duke of Edinburgh Awards with Prince Philip.
Paul recounted: "When I was introduced to Prince Philip he took one look at Lil and said ‘ The last time we had someone like you in the palace her name was Nell Gywn’."
The Kentish star is currently making the country swoon as he befriends dogs on TV show For the Love of Dogs.
